Dessert brought a brief moment of redemption: the tiramisu was good, pleasant even, but hardly memorable. Enjoy, nod politely, and immediately forget.
Given the location and the prices, the disappointment felt familiar—unsurprising, yet still frustrating. The wine, to be fair, was excellent; the list is easily the strongest part of the experience. Unfortunately, it also served to highlight how little else stood out.
Even the atmosphere failed to rise to the occasion. For a Saturday night, the room felt oddly flat, steeped in that unmistakable Old Port energy: charge as much as possible, deliver as little as necessary. Everything looks right on the surface, but substance is in short supply.
Like many restaurants in the area, it’s… fine. Perfectly okay. But fine doesn’t justify the price tag. And in a city full of places that actually try, “fine” just isn’t enough.
The chicken that came with the dish was also good and well prepared, and the appetizer we ordered was enjoyable as well. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made, which made the meal feel a bit more special than a standard restaurant experience.
At one point, we asked for bread so we could soak up the rest of the sauce left on our plates. They do have bread, but it’s not something they automatically serve, and you have to ask for it. There was a bit of miscommunication around that, and when the bread did arrive, it honestly wasn’t the greatest. Still, it wasn’t a big issue and didn’t take away too much from the overall experience.
This visit actually made me want to try a lot more pasta places. It felt like I’ve been missing out on really good pasta all this time. Overall, Jacopo left a strong impression, and I’d definitely be open to coming back and exploring more of their menu.
We ordered the lavender and peach mocktails which were excellent.
The bruschetta started was also very good.
And the two mains: mushroom gnochhis, and braised lamb tomato sauce pasta were both excellent.
Would definitely come back and highly recommend.
The ambience was wonderful — the heated patio is beautifully lit, the main floor has a cozy, darker vibe, and the upper level feels more open and spacious. It’s a surprisingly large restaurant, and despite the buzz, the music wasn’t too loud, which made it easy to chat and enjoy conversation.
Our server was super friendly and spoke English, which made everything smooth. The mushroom gnocchi was delicious — perfect texture, great flavour, and just the right amount of sauce. They also have a nice selection of wines, and our food came out in about 15–20 minutes.
We noticed a few birthday celebrations happening, and it’s clear Jacopo is great for groups or special occasions, with large tables available.
Overall, the food was excellent, prices were fair (around $15–20 for appetizers and $25–35 for mains), and the setting makes it a perfect spot for a date night, dinner with friends, or a family outing. Highly recommend!
The atmosphere was very cozy and inviting, which we really enjoyed. However, the air-conditioning was running quite strong. Since it was cold outside, we ended up keeping our jackets on, and the food cooled down faster than expected.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience with excellent food, but adjusting the temperature would definitely make it even better.
