It was my first time going to Valdari with high expectations due to reviews of the food. It is Valentine’s Day and we made a 7:45pm reservation.
As I walked in with my fiancé, there was a crowd of people waiting at the entrance not taken care of. I’ve seen waitresses walking past the front at least 5 times within the few mins to charge people’s credit cards and taking care of the drinks. We spoke to a couple that was there before us and they had a 7:30 reservation and weren’t taken care of and not greeted. They stated the waitress just walked off. As 10-15 minutes past, we waived down
a waitress who walked by the front to ask about our reservation. We checked in with her and we were seated in few minutes. it’s safe to assume that if we didn’t flag someone down.. we definitely were not going to be “checked in” or even taken care of. No one was managing the front as there were a swarm of guests waiting. The second we told the waitress we had an appointment, everyone else came behind to tell her as well.

Im unsure of how the team operates but 30 mins passed by no one took our orders and not even water was served. 40 mins later, someone finally got to us and took our orders. We find out that we can only order from the Valentines dinner set menu because the chefs from the kitchen want to push out the food ASAP since they are super backed up and busy. It was an unexpected last minute notice because my fiancé wanted to order from their daily menu and that was also the whole point of coming. The appetizers took about 30 minutes to come out, the entree took about 1 hour to come out. So by that time, we have sat down for almost about 2 hours. It was like 9:50 PM by then. I was about to fall asleep but luckily my date kept me up by talking.
We ordered burrata, it was a 10/10, me and my fiancé both agreed was the best dish out of everything we had.

The shrimp was soggy and one of the shrimp was burnt. once it was put down the table my fiancé could tell it was not going to be good.

I ordered steak cooked medium. it came out beyond well done. One of the sides was burnt, it was chewy and dry. I did not enjoy the steak, but did not want to make a scene nor did I have patience to request it remade. It was very disappointing. I cut up my steak and gave half of it to my fiance to help me eat it he only took a bite and agreed with my assessment. we really did not want to waste food but parts of the steak was so unimaginably dry my fiance started laughing hysterically saying he could save it and use it as a fire starter.

The truffle burger (has no truffle ) was dry… my fiance only ate half of it and couldn’t do it anymore. There were no condiments on the burger and tasted very bland. I tried a bite and agreed. It was very dry..

Fair warning, people get automatically charged 20% gratuity and it says on the receipt depending on what the bill comes out to.

Based on the service and food today it is hard for me to think of retrying this place again.

Valdari is nestled on a small block off of Bell Blvd in Bayside, one block from the train station. Their pizzas from their large wood fired oven are unbeatable in terms of value, taste, and presentation. My favorite is their Tartufo pizza with truffle and ricotta cheese.

The restaurant is fit for small groups up to 4 and they have one table for 8. Their bar fits about 6 individuals but there is plenty of room for couples or parties of 2. Reservations are not required and you will be promptly seated. The pastas, pizzas, and appetizers are delicious and their drinks are beautifully made.

Bread was so good, one of the best breads i’ve had (and it was free!). Octopus and calamari app was delicious, pasta was also great and the eggplant parm was amazing. Not a fan of the burger but it was cooked to the exact temp I asked for (medium) – just felt like it needed some more seasoning; fries were great! Loved the chocolate cake desert and the donuts with nutella sauce. Customer service was one of the best i’ve had in Queens… the waiter on the rooftop made the experience 10/10. Would come back jyst for the wood fire pizza it was the best!!!

Had an incredible experience at Valdari Ristorante! My mom and I split everything and the portions were absolutely perfect. The penne alla vodka was superb and all the appetizers were delicious. Every dish we tried was truly top-notch. The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the upcoming Christmas holiday, giving it a warm and cozy feeling the moment we walked in. Service was amazing as well – attentive, friendly and welcoming. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend!

I had a really good experience at Valdari. The Caesar salad was fresh and very delicious. The calamari was crispy and cooked perfectly. The food came out quickly, which I appreciated, and everything tasted great. The service was also very good. Our waiter, Andres, was attentive, polite, and made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, it was a smooth and enjoyable meal, and I’d definitely go back.

I had the most amazing server Julio who was also the bartender at the time because I came around 2pm on a weekday when it wasn’t so busy. I ordered the 3 course lunch menu and had Ceasar salad, chicken parm & bomboloni. My friend had the salmon and bruschetta. Everything was delicious. We also had a margarita & mojito one regular and one passion fruit that was also great. The bread and oil the comes to the table was fresh out the oven. Definitely coming back would highly recommend.

Came here with my partner to celebrate valentines day. Waited for about half and hour past our reservation to be seated and another half hour to get water and our order taken. We were unable to order items on the original menu and can only order from their preset valentines menus, even though we clearly saw other tables being served items that were not on the menu.

Took about half an hour for appetizers to be served which were the best bites of the night. Mains took no joke, another 40 minutes to come, which only happened after i went up to a waiter to check on the time.
We finally received our mains which were steak and burgers.

This is the first time in my 20 years of dinning in NYC to have bit into a dry burger, it was beyond overcooked, the fat was completely rendered out.

My partner was dissatisfied with her steak which too was overcooked. reckon it was already about 2 and a half hours, having arrived at 7:45pm for our reservation and being a quarter past 10, we just wanted the check and leave. I did not want to make a scene and ruin the special day. Check came with a forced 20% gratuity, which i only paid because the waiters were very friendly i felt sorry that they were running around all night trying their best.

The place needs a supervisor to manage workflow so customers get greeted and seated. Orders to be taken and meals to served in timely order.
