The food was perfect! I live right near the Chicago River north location so for me to be impressed is great! I’m writing this truly because of Latonya who I caught doing an act of kindness for an elderly lady. The lady was a bit confused and Latonya was walking her to the door. I said “so sweet of you” and she heard me and said “thank you”. She did more than I’ll mention but I will mention she is very sweet! Little things go a long way!

One of my favorite spots to eat when I visit my family out here. If for some reason you are in Normal and have never had Chicago style Hot Dogs or an Italian beef, this is a great spot to get them outside of Chicago. If you want something traditional, a dipped beef is the way to go but it’s super messy, buyer be warned. My preferred way to get a beef here is to order it with hot and sweet peppers, dry, with a side of Au jus.

This is a fun- themed fast food restaurant known for their hotdogs and Italian beef. But ton, I had a bacon cheeseburger and my wife a chili cheese dog. Both sandwiches were well prepared and tasty. The fries were great tonight; fresh, hot, properly salted and not overcooked as sometimes happens here. Of course, chocolate cake for dessert. Yum.

Soggy saltless fries, cold cheese sauce and not fresh ingredients on the sandwich. Whoever’s working the lines Sunday night does not know what quality is and receives an F for all the above. We had a large take out order for a high school team and the manager was exceptionally helpful and organized! The entire order was ready and packaged when we arrived. Exceptional service as they helped load the meals onto our bus.

Outstanding! Great menu, great food, great service. Chicago dog is a must have. Fries are perfectly cooked. Quick made to order selections. Great atmosphere. Uniquely decorated with plenty of seating. Catering area. Dine in, take out or drive through. Drive through is busy and backed up during peak times. People love this place

Service Staff was very friendly and helpful to us first timers. Place was clean, the dining room spotless and the restrooms were stocked and clean too!
Menu was big yet simple. So many choices. Unfortunately on our visit the shake machine wasn’t working and we heard how amazing the shakes were.
Our group got the double cheese burger, the Italian meat sandwich, Chicago dog, chocolate cake, strawberry shortcake and drinks. GET THE CHEESE SAUCE!
Fed a group of 10 for $115 and we did not order light. Prices were good.
Lots and lots of seating in other rooms.

I can’t say enough about how good Portillo’s is. Perhaps there is a bit of nostalgia there since I used to live in Chicago. Visiting there now is a rare treat but amazing everytime! Big beef all the way!

Portillo’s: Service was fast as usual, and they introduced new soda machines. I tried the spicy chicken sandwich—it was just OK. PROTIP: Stick with their classic Italian beef and jumbo hot dog for the best experience
