When making reservations for my birthday we were optimistic. Upon arrival no one acknowledged the reason for the dinner. We were sat down in a booth that had very little room and we felt cramped. The windows have no type of blinds that can come down to help with the heat/ sun coming in so I was sweating the whole time. The service seemed decent and we were checked on frequently which was nice. The food for restaurant week was pretty good we loved the filet steak. Overall I think we had much high expectations.

Tonight we ventured out for a special New Year’s Eve dinner with friends. Our reservations were for 8 p.m. We were seated promptly but then completely ignored for over 20 minutes
The NYE dinner is a prix fixe menu with some choices. One of the dishes did not specify that it was raw fish. Would have been nice to know ESPECIALLY if you have a seafood allergy.
First course: the pear salad was nice, the mushroom soup was lukewarm.
Second course was a choice of the raw fish, chicken ravioli. My friend had the fish, what a joke! It was served on a full size dinner plate and was so small it made her angry. The chicken ravioli came with 5 pieces and some shredded chicken in a cream sauce. The sauce was gritty and gave me more of a tuna casserole feel in my mouth. Yuck
Main course was a choice of short rib, scallops, or a sausage stuffed chicken thigh. It didnt matter what you requested it was served cold. Gross.
Dessert was a mango compote within a cale and covered with white chocolate sitting in a bed of matcha (?), it had a good taste but a weird mouth feel so we left that, the other dessert was a typical chocolate peanut butter thing.
The table was set with ONE fork, one knife, a bread plate, a napkin, a water glass and a red wine glass.
No one was ever served bread, it would take a while to get a fork, every single course the food would be served and we would have to wait for a fork. The men were served before the women, empty glasses piled up until one of us requested they be removed
THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Never again will I spend an evening of misery in a place so very poorly managed.

First time having elk and WOW! It was delicious! The meat was cooked to perfection and the sauce on the side was an amazing enhancement. The staff were very friendly and attentive. There were a wide variety of drink options available. Overall the experience was great!

We’ve eaten at Aerie previously. They are participating in the 2026 Traverse City Restaurant Week and had a nice sounding prix fixe menu. First, the service was impeccable. Other than the heating being too hot for those seated next to the windows and small portions for my entree and the small portions for everyone’s desserts, it was a good meal. Flavorful. Fresh. I would give the food a higher rating, but my entree portion size and everyone’s dessert portion size detracted from giving more than 3 stars.
Also, last year diners were given a 2 for 1 coupon for their Sunday buffet. That was an awesome gesture. No coupon this year is disappointing.

The dessert was by far the best part of our meal!!!!
The food was decent but also not the best we have ever had! Capreese & Caesar salad good portions and delicious, pork chop bland carrots burnt but still okay, ratatouille was a okay vegetarian option but also not as good as the starters. The view is amazing and the service was even better, we had Will as our waiter and he provided everything we asked for with a positive, mellow attitude. We loved him ♥️

The Sunday Brunch was amazing! Very large selection of food, drinks and desserts. The bloody mary was delicious.
Great service and phenomenal views of the Traverse City area and the bay.

Great location, close to area attractions, wineries and the bay.

If you’re in the area, I would suggest checking out the Great food at Aerie Restaurant and Lounge, you won’t be disappointed.

Waited over 20 minutes for a server to stop by our table. Others who were seated after us had their 1st course while we sat waiting. Finally complained to the host and a manager. Dinner was ok but the lack of service was shocking. Cheryl waited on us out of pity I think and did a great job even if we were not in her section. Very disappointed with the evening. Management never even stopped by our table to check on us

The food was delicious and service exceptional. Our only issue is that it’s extremely hot up there. We asked about options for making it cooler, but it sounded like it’s a known issue. The tables up higher in the half circle I felt like made it hotter and were tighter. They also had issues with the elevators briefly while we were there. It does have great views though. Not going to lie though I have had better from other places for this price. To me they are over priced for what you get.

One of the worst experiences, unfortunately. Our drinks were clearly not shaked. They started bitter and as we got to the bottom, they became sweeter. We had to wait over three hours for all four courses to come out. They also missed course number two completely and when they eventually brought it out, it was wrong, and the excuse was the computer was down, when the waitresses wrote it down on a piece of paper. As we were getting ready to leave, and then in the elevator, multiple people commented that “we hope your dinner was better than ours.” To preserve the image of this restaurant, and the history and reputation of the Grand Traverse, someone needs to look into what happened on NYE. I expect many reviews from other people corroborating my experience as well.
