We had a wonderful experience at JOEY Manhattan Beach.

The staff was extremely professional from start to finish. Stacie (hostess) graciously accommodated us nearly an hour before our reservation, which we truly appreciated. We were also indecisive about sitting inside versus outside and bounced between the two — yet she remained patient, courteous, and accommodating the entire time.

Her professionalism and composure did not waver. Truly top-tier hospitality.

Jesse, our server, was equally impressive — knowledgeable, attentive, and polished. He answered our questions thoroughly and made excellent recommendations. The food was outstanding and beautifully prepared.

Yes, it is on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it for the quality, service, and overall experience.

We’re looking forward to returning and will definitely be recommending JOEY to friends and family.

I’m so glad I decided to try out this place cuz the food is amazing here!! Restaurant itself has nice ambience and overall pristine clean. We ordered quite of few dishes and I honestly loved most of them! The chicken lettuce wrap was probably my favorite. It’s marinated deliciously and paired with amazing crunch. Either crab dip or ravioli would be my second fav but hard to choose, for they were both delicious. I’d definitely come back. Their food in general were all amazing

This was my first time trying this restaurant and I’m so glad I did! The restaurant itself is so cute and has nice dim lighting. Seats both inside and outside available. The restaurant serves you champagne while you’re waiting for your table. The servers were all very sweet and welcoming and the food was delicious! Parking was a breeze- it’s free in the parking structures and open lots. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you’re in the area.

Food/drink review:
Strawberry cool (w/gin): (4/5) This was super refreshing and delicious! It’s a zero proof drink, but I added gin.

Japanese gyoza: (5/5) These were so tasty! Great texture and flavor. The sauce it comes with is bomb!

Lobster spaghetti: (5/5) I’m allergic so didn’t personally try it but my 2 friends said it was delicious and they finished it all! Good sharing portion.

Steak and sushi: (5/5) Yumm! Literally two of my favorite foods in one dish. Great combo. I loved it.

Udon carbonara noodles (w/ chicken): (5/5) Surprisingly delicious! The chicken was a great touch to the dish.

I’ve been going to JOEY Manhattan Beach for a while, so this is not coming from a one-off bad day. Unfortunately, my recent visit felt like a preview of a place that has lost its rhythm.

The bar service was slow and inconsistent from the start. It took about 20 minutes for the bartender to circle back, and the drinks that finally arrived were surprisingly underwhelming. Not terrible enough to send back, but definitely not what you expect from a spot known for its bar program.

The bigger disappointment was the crispy tofu bowl. I’ve ordered it many times and it’s usually solid. This time it showed up with exactly six very small pieces of tofu and no avocado, which I had specifically requested. It looked less like a bowl and more like a garnish situation.

When the bartender eventually returned, I explained the issue. She took the plate away and disappeared for a while. When she came back, the “manager’s solution” was to cook a side of tofu and bring it out separately. By that point the whole experience felt disjointed and oddly handled. There was no real ownership of the problem, just a patch job after the fact.
What stood out most was the lack of coordination and attention from both staff and management. Service felt scattered, quality felt inconsistent, and the overall experience was nowhere near the standard this location used to maintain.

I’ve genuinely enjoyed this place in the past, which makes the decline more noticeable. Between the slow bar service, weak drinks, and a signature dish that came up short, this visit missed the mark.

I’m hoping this is a temporary slide because the location and concept are great. For now though, I’ll probably take a break and give them some time to get things back on track.

Had a reservation, requested tall tables, but arrived to wait and then seated at a “low” table, not ready. Also, weren’t offered complimentary champagne, I’m guessing it’s for affluent guests, I asked, awkwardly given a glass, so weird. Also, there’s a “waiting” area behind the host that we found by accident. We dressed nice, so I don’t know why we were treated like slobs wondering in from the mall. Place looked kewl from outside but lights are too dim, music too loud, and no menu for kids (butter noodles not offered but we asked, they’ll do it). Lobster spaghetti was citrus/sour, chicken was good, but everything seemed overly priced. My lemon drop was spilled on the glass, so extra sticky, wine pour was light. Service was slow and for the price, lacked that extra attention I’d expect. Kitchen looks kewl, view from seated areas. Apps were tasty and happy hour prices help make this a casual place I’d meet for apps n drinks and then go elsewhere.

Wow.

Ok, I admittedly love good food so when my Uncle opted on a chain like Joey’s, I kept my expectations low. In my days of mall food, I hadn’t been blown away by the options.

Wow, I have to admit when I am wrong and I was definitely wrong to come in with low expectations. Joey’s delivered. Joey’s delivered on flavors, style and great service. By the time we came in, we were greeted with sparking wine or water and seated at our booth a few minutes upon arriving. It was a Monday and the restaurant was packed for dinner.

The ambience was dark, sexy and friendly. Still appropriate for a family dinner like the one we were having but also could be a great date night spot.

For the table we shared the delicious Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Excellent flavor and a more elegant cousin of typical Chinese Chicken Lettuce wrap.

For my entree, I tried the steak and sushi. I really enjoyed the flavor of the seared salmon sushi. I tried the Tuna sushi and that was mediocre to me. The seared salmon sushi is definitely something I would order again. I had a side of miso mushrooms and they were excellent. The mushrooms are another must order dish when I return.

Finally, we had the butter cake and we were all blown away by how delicious it was.

The biggest reason I will be coming back is the service, Sydney was our server and she went above and beyond to make my first time experience so memorable. You may be wondering how I knew what to order for the first time and it was thanks to Sydney’s excellent recommendations. She has great taste. If you are lucky enough to be seated in her section, you will enjoy great service and a great meal.

This was a special treat for our family near and far to get together and Joey’s was an excellent choice. Also, for any visitors, this location has FREE PARKING and is about 15 mins to LAX.

The dining experience was exceptional, warranting a 10/10 recommendation. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly with smiles and offered a complimentary glass of champagne while awaiting my table.

My server, Miranda, provided excellent recommendations, addressed all inquiries thoroughly, and demonstrated attentive service, including inquiring about potential allergies.

I selected the hummus, Philly cheesesteak sliders, and blackened chicken, complemented by the Joey 75 beverage. The culinary offerings were exquisite, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. Each dish was expertly paired, enhancing the overall experience.

I was thoroughly satisfied with my spontaneous decision to dine here. I anticipate returning to Joeys on every future visit to Manhattan Beach.
