There are much better places for pho and “Thai” curry in the neighbourhood at a slightly higher price point.
Authentic vibes. I will come back!
I had wanted to order bún thịt nướng (room temperature rice vermicelli noodles with grilled meat and fish sauce dressing), which is hands down my favorite Vietnamese dish. I’d never been to a Vietnamese restaurant that doesn’t serve it before I came to Mekong. They replaced this traditional Vietnamese dish with Indonesian noodle dishes for some strange reason. My favorite appetizer is gỏi cuốn/nem cuốn (non-friend rolls with shrimp and rice vermicelli noodles served with a spicy peanut sauce). Also missing from the menu. And of course, there was no Vietnamese coffee with milk (dark roasted coffee brewed on your table through a drip press and mixed with sweetened condensed milk).
So, overall o.k. taste-wise, but lacking some pretty standard Vietnamese dishes.
