Pho in Love in downtown Vancouver has quickly become one of my favorite new pho spots. While parking in the area can be a bit scarce (as expected downtown), it’s absolutely worth the effort once you’re inside. The food is delicious and clearly made with care. The broth is rich, aromatic, and comforting without being overly salty, and the noodles had a great texture. The beef was tender and generous, making each bowl very satisfying.

What really stood out to me was the service. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. You don’t feel rushed, and they genuinely seem to care about their customers. The restaurant itself is clean, cozy, and has a nice, relaxed atmosphere that works well for both quick meals and longer sit-downs.

Overall, Pho in Love delivers on all the important things: great-tasting food, warm service, and consistent quality. Despite the parking challenge, this is a spot I’ll gladly return to again and again.

I got the lemongrass chicken on rice & it was absolutely delicious I think it’s coconut rice (the best) I ordered on ahead and picked up for my break. The gal working made sure to have it ready exactly when I said I’d be back (I’m a bus driver so time matters) she was so friendly & efficient. Food was delicious- will defs be back ! X thank you

This place is highly rated and popular for a reason! The pho broth is flavourful and the portions are generous to say the least. I always get the small size and still have trouble finishing it. There are a number of more authentic dishes too that are definitely worth trying, as well as crowd pleasers such as crab Rangoon, summer rolls, spring rolls. I always get the beef tendon pho (gotta get that collagen!) and the tendon portions are generous. My husband always gets a Bahn mi which is says is one of the best ones he’s had. We took two sets of friends here as well and they absolutely loved this place too.

❌ PHO IN LOVE? More Like PHO-GET ABOUT THIS PLACE! – A Total Disaster from Pickup to Plate.

I order takeout from this restaurant several times a month, and I always stick to their Pho soup, which was decent, but today I made the mistake of trying something different: the Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef). My experience, from the moment I called in the order to the moment I threw the food in the garbage, was a masterclass in terrible service and misleading advertising.

⏳ A Bizarre and Unsafe Pickup Experience

I was quoted a “15-minute” wait time when I called. I arrived a generous 30 minutes later, giving them plenty of cushion. First impression: the entrance is a steep, dark staircase leading downstairs. It was so poorly lit, I genuinely thought I was going to slip and fall just getting to the door.

Once inside, there was no acknowledgement. Myself and other new customers were left standing near the counter for a good five minutes while staff bustled around, completely ignoring us. I finally had to actively flag down a server to tell them I was there for a pickup—only to be told the order was still not ready. I waited another 15 minutes, pushing the total wait time far beyond the initial quote.

False Advertising and Inexcusable Packaging

I finally got the takeout bags and left. When I got home, I opened the containers (see photos) and realized the portioning was baffling and the presentation was a joke. The Bo Luc Lac was split across two separate take-out boxes, both barely 1/3 full with a meager serving of rice and the beef dish.

Worse, the dish was completely missing the promised salad, pickled carrots, and daikon advertised clearly on their website and their store banner! Instead, the boxes were “decorated” with four small, pointless plastic containers—a ridiculous amount of environmental waste for virtually nothing.

The Rudest Customer Service I Have Ever Encountered

Thinking they simply forgot to pack the sides, I called the restaurant. The person who answered flatly told me, “It never comes with salad or pickles.”

When I pointed out their own advertising, both online and on their physical banner, the employee didn’t apologize or try to explain a shortage; they just doubled down on the lie that the sides don’t exist. Before I could even finish my sentence, the employee snapped, asking if there was “anything else” because he was “busy with customers,” and then abruptly hung up on me. This level of disrespect is absolutely shocking.

Inedible and Wasteful Food

The final insult was the food itself. The service and the lies were one thing, but the food should at least be edible. It wasn’t. The “shaking beef” was so tough and painfully salty it was impossible to chew or enjoy. After all that hassle, waiting, and rude treatment, the entire meal, costing a small fortune, went straight into the garbage can.

Will not be returning and highly recommend others avoid this establishment!!

Homely style Vietnamese Restaurant on Davie Street . Pho noodles in peanut soup was tasty. Good combinations with pho and peanut soup and beef.

We can select hot tea or water for start.
It was cold day but staff service and
Tea and pho made me warm.

Happy Hour was discount price.

Went here for Valentine’s day, and service was really good! They even gave me a rose at the end of our dinner. We both got the beef pho and the broth was flavourful, a bit on the sweeter side. Very generous portions!!

Best pho in Vancouver! I’ve ordered the Sate Peanut Noodle Soup both dine-in and take-out, and it’s consistently delicious with fresh ingredients and high-quality beef. The portion is also HUGE, so make sure you’re hungry if you plan on ordering it!

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. The best sandwich in Vancouver, and arguably the best bahn mi on planet earth.

I’ve been here many times and tried over half of the menu and everything is delicious. The kind owners take careful steps to ensure the quality of ingredients and ultimately the end product. You can tell there is love and pride in the food that they serve.

Although I’ve liked everything I’ve tried here, the bahn mi is my favorite thing on the menu. Everything is perfect, I won’t go into detail, but just order it and don’t change anything. The salad rolls and wings are great to start. I also love the grilled meat plates. The iced coffee and Thai iced tea (blended) are also favorites of mine. Really you can’t go wrong though, whatever you order will be delicious.

I can’t recommend this place enough, the staff are lovely, the food is delicious and the prices are more than fair. I hope you will visit and support this local gem

This was one of those meals where you have to eat with your eyes closed because you just can’t handle how good it tastes.

Best beef banh mi I’ve ever had, best salad rolls that we’ve ever had, probably the best Vietnamese I’ve ever had. The bun was perfectly crunchy, yet soft. Herbs very fresh and just the right amount of sauce.

Highly, highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back and try more.

Entered on a cold day so we ordered beef pho soup (picture below is small size beef pho ). The atmosphere and the way the lanterns were positioned made us at home (warm and friendly). The staff was very friendly and took their time and we noticed they’d go around and fill each table’s water, so a very thoughtful gesture on their part. The food was amazing, especially the beef pho with it’s clear and authentic broth. Portions for the food were extremely generous and the price was decent for such a large size. Overall, a great restaurant near English Bay with kind staff, a warm atmosphere, generous food portions and authentic Vietnamese food. As long as the restaurant keeps the generous portions and kind staff as it does now, we will always visit and support again in the future.
