The restaurant clearly overbooks and has no real system to manage the crowd. No buzzer, no text message when your table is ready, no updates — just a group of people standing around hoping their name eventually gets called. We waited almost an hour for essentially nothing, with zero communication.
Once seated, the service improved slightly but was still far from good. I’d rate it about 4/10. The staff seemed friendly but appear to operate under a strange rulebook about what they are and are not allowed to do. At one point it felt almost ironic that the waitress couldn’t simply place a bottle of water on the table without explaining policy.
The funny part is that the food is actually pretty good — about 8/10.
The burger was very good, the salmon was good, and the crab cake was okay. The best part of the meal was actually the side dishes, which were excellent.
The fries, however, were terrible, which is impressive considering fries are usually the easiest thing to get right.
One more strange detail: you can’t order bottled water. They only offer tap water and don’t charge for it. From a business perspective that feels like a $7–$14 margin opportunity missed on every table, which is surprising for a place charging these prices.
So the final verdict: good kitchen, chaotic front of house.
Fix the organization and this place could be very good. Right now it mostly feels like a patience test… and a social experiment.
It had just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness that made each bite better than the last.
The smoked salmon was also a standout. It was fresh, rich, and delicately seasoned, with a beautiful texture that melted in your mouth. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care in preparation.
The service was top-tier–friendly, attentive, and professional from the moment we walked in. And the location? Absolutely gorgeous. The view adds so much to the dining experience, making it feel special and relaxing.
Whether you’re coming for a date night, a celebration, or just a great meal, this place delivers on all fronts. I’II definitely be coming
The service today wasn’t the best, but I think the restaurant was a bit crowded and the waitress was really nice, just couldn’t be everywhere at once.
I would say the audience of this is probably more the management of that location versus the general public. First, they asked me to take my hat off when I sat down. Understandable. Then I ordered an Arnold Palmer and they just basically told me that they don’t have lemonade. Now, if it was a really top-notch service, they would have offered me alternatives. Lemonade is simply lemon, water, and sugar. The bartender could have made a small cup of lemonade in 2 minutes and they could have made me very happy. They denied me when I asked them to do that. Instead they gave me lemon juice. If you’re going to claim to be a really top-notch restaurant and ask me to take my hat off at the table (I’ve been to nicer restaurants where it’s fine to leave my hat on), then you can ask to bartender to do a favor and make me a small cup of lemonade so I can have an Arnold Palmer. It’s the little things really. To me it’s a very small ask of the staff but a big deal to me.
“Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had. We ordered the Osaka Style pressed sushi, the Thai Tuna Roll, and of course the famous BBQ Baby Back Ribs , every bite was perfection. The sushi was fresh and flavorful, and the ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender. Service was quick, atmosphere was upscale but comfortable, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. Five stars without a doubt , Houston’s is a must-visit.”
