We stop at this diner occasionally to break up our shopping trips to busy Baltimore Pike. This restaurant is much larger than it looks from the road. And the parking area is huge behind the building as well. There is classic counter, seating, booth, seating, and tables to accommodate any size party.
as with many classic diners, the menu seems to be endless with standard American, Italian, Greek, and modern American food. We tend to order Greek because that is hardly finding our area.
food has always been above average. The service always excels. Staff are well trained, attentive, friendly, and very accommodating.
The cases full of dessert selections offer more square footage than my kitchen at home. So definitely save room for dessert. Desserts often come with dinner entrées. But that shouldn’t stop you from ordering something really decadent to take home.

I’ve read mixed reviews but I can’t say a word against this place. Friendly service staff, reasonable prices, loads of food that tastes delicious. Add the cakes!!!! Will be back.

I had ordered chicken croquettes. They were a nice size but actually uneatable. So completely dry it tasted like sandpaper. There was nothing in them except for chopped up chicken. I asked the waiter if they were overcooked and he said they look the same as usual. He then said I could speak to the manager which I did. Unfortunately the manager/owner did not help me out at all. He said they get the croquettes from another vendor. I then asked if anyone else has complained and he responded “no”. Then he said people put gravy on them. (Which is what I had attempted but it did not help with the dryness and bland taste at all). He did not even ask me if I wanted to order something else. I sat there for a while disgusted and then told the waiter that the manager did not even offer me another option. The waiter then replied that I could, but after thinking about it I was afraid to order anything else knowing how terrible this croquette was. I decided to take it home and try to add something to it which would make it eatable but to no avail. I had to throw it out which was a big waste of money.

Awesome diner! My dad and I ate here and enjoyed homemade meals. He had an open faced roast beef with a cup of chicken noodle soup. I had a chicken salad triple decker club with fries. Service was great, very clean restaurant. Check it out!

OMG WHAT!?! This place is doing everything right. Quality food, excellent portions, super friendly but professional wait staff. Manager is always On Duty, and is at the front for all to see, and makes the rounds as well checking on customers.
Ok, here’s the real compliment- we don’t live near this place. We live in what’s commonly known as the “Main Line” (Lower Merion, BrynMawr, Wynnewood, Balacynwyd…) there is a clearly MainLine best of the best restaurant known for its breakfast & also Lunch/dinner. It is our fav go to spot for breakfast. We discovered Springfield a few weeks ago! OMG WOW!!
if you know anything about the MainLine and Hymes restaurant saying Springfield dinner is better is an enormous compliment. Springfield dinner for breakfast is def better ‘;o) we have not been here for other meals.

Due to the reviews I did not order anything to eat during my visit. I was able to get everyone else’s opinion and they all agreed the food was good. I will say that the staff was pleasant and the manger Andrew was nice as well. I will be revisiting soon.
