We stopped at Santos Chef by Goodfellas on a very quiet Monday night when restaurant options were limited in town, and we were glad we did. Service was faultless and friendly.
My husband ordered the chicken marsala and thought it was fantastic. He especially liked the touch of fresh spinach on the side, which he could toss into his pasta to let it gently wilt (a nice idea).
I had the eggplant and sausage pasta, which was a bit less successful. The restaurant was out of the pasta shape listed on the menu (I opted for linguini instead), and the battered, fried eggplant turned quite soft once mixed with the sauce. The dish also had a generous amount of sliced sausage — great if you love sausage, but it threw off the balance for me.
The small side salad was unremarkable but complimentary, so no complaints there. And a fun note: the chef seems to like decorating every plate with a slice of orange!
Overall, a nice spot with excellent service. I’d definitely return to try a different dish next time.

The biggest complaint I have about Santos restaurant is that the prices on the menu are not accurate. All the entrées that we ordered were several dollars more than the prices on the menu. The same was true for the glasses of wine… They were not priced as advertised. This has been going on for 8 months! There’s no note of that anywhere on the menu anywhere in the restaurant and not even the wait staff mentions it. I truly think this is unconscionable on the part of the restaurant owner, Santos. The excuse is that prices have gone up and it’s expensive to print new menus that reflect the new prices. Are you kidding me?! Just put a sticker on all the menus and have the staff mentioned that the prices are X number of dollars higher than reflected on the menu. How hard is that?

Excellent Italian meal. The veal dishes were dynamite. Well made pasta. Generous pours of wine. Friendly staff and the chocolate cake was quite good. A really good meal in an unassuming location.

Got here at 6:40, waited for 2 hours for our food. Had to send it back because it was wrong. They remade the food which took an hour and when we got it , it was cold and still wrong. They ran out of tea, hardly ever checked on us. And then when the check came they overcharged us and we had to get our check fixed twice until it was the right price. Will not ever be coming back.

We’ve dined here before and had a great experience, but unfortunately, this visit was a huge letdown. I ordered the filet, and about a quarter of it was completely inedible. To make matters worse, the entire dish was drenched in Au Jus sauce—even the fruit, which was an unpleasant surprise.

We also ordered the Pollo Copacabana, which arrived on top of extremely soggy French fries. The oil and juices from the dish soaked everything, including the fruit that was added to the plate. A surprise grape when you’re expecting chicken is not ideal, and honestly, we couldn’t even eat it because of how unappetizing the fries were.

On top of that, we were charged $34 for Cupcake wine, which was not what was listed on the menu.

It’s disappointing because we know this place can be great, but it felt like an entirely different cook and experience this time. We will not be back.

On a recent evening, my wife and I decided to try Santos by Good Fellas for the first time. Unfortunately, what we hoped would be a pleasant new experience quickly took an unexpected turn.

Our visit began with a rather awkward welcome. After waiting in line for several minutes, we were finally greeted by a hostess—who also appeared to be serving tables. Her first question was whether we had reservations. We did not, and had we known they were required, we would have gladly returned at a later time. Instead, she followed up by asking if we could finish our entire meal by 7:30 p.m.—a question I have never encountered in any dining establishment. The tone felt abrupt and set an uncomfortable tone for the rest of the visit.

Once seated, our server seemed very new to the role—visibly nervous and, more concerning, extremely rushed. Shortly after, a loaf of bread was brought to the table, but it arrived cold and noticeably stale. When our entrées appeared, the disappointment continued. The pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy, a fundamental misstep for any restaurant, especially one striving for an elevated dining experience.

The atmosphere didn’t help redeem the evening. The music repeatedly started and stopped mid-song, jumping between tracks without ever settling—an oddly distracting soundtrack to an already underwhelming meal. The overall appearance of the wait staff felt unpolished, leaving us unsure whether the restaurant was aiming for a casual quick-service identity or upscale dining. The room itself has potential, but the execution suggests deeper management challenges.

After only a few bites, we made the difficult decision to end our meal early. We paid for what we had ordered out of courtesy, then walked out and headed across the street—where we promptly enjoyed an excellent dinner with attentive service and a far more inviting atmosphere.

Our experience at Santos by Good Fellas was deeply disappointing, and based on this visit, we do not plan to return. Unfortunately, we left having paid for little more than a regrettable dining experience.

Amazing food and super friendly staff. Different menu regularly. Great Salmon, Delicious Filet Mignon, Unbelievable Scallops, everything is delicious, you can’t go wrong. Full bar, if you would like a drink with your dinner. Very nice place, 5 star fine dining, but there isn’t a harsh dress code. A Reservation is a good idea. Great for Date Night, a dinner with friends or supper with the family. Children’s Menu is great too, same menu as adults, just a smaller portion. Best restaurant in town!

The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was so awesome! We showed up not knowing we needed a reservation as we are not from NC, but the chef agreed to seat us anyway. The service was 5 star from start to finish. We had the stuffed salmon and the crystal scallops and both were divine!

Walking in this was my very first visit. The staff was very attentive and made us feel welcomed. The ambiance was great with some music playing in the background to set the mood. The menu was varied enough that I had a hard time deciding on what I wanted to eat; I finally settled on the Brazilian Salmon. The salad came out quickly and the main course shortly thereafter giving enough time to complete your starter. The Salmon was fork tender and tasted exquisitely. One can see the restaurant is popular as it filled up quickly, noting many guests had reservations. I will certainly visit again and try something else off the menu. I highly recommend this establishment.

I’ve always liked the food here but for how slow the restaurant was tonight the service was particularly bad. Make sure you have a lot of time to eat or your dressed really nice so you get attention quickly.
