Once I found them(inside Golden Beaver Distillery), I was pleasantly surprised by this small, yet efficient operation. We got our food to go, including red beans and rice for my better half, jambalaya for me, gumbo and cornbread to share. It was 3:30 on a Saturday, they weren’t roo busy, and our fiod was up very quickly. The portions seemed small at first, but I could barely finish. The jambalaya was perfectly seasoned, slightly spicy, but not hot, the red beans were smokey and firm, yet creamy and delicious. The gumbo was excellent. Perfect ratio of soup to meats and veggies (the chicken was AMAZING). Cornbread was great, served with honey-butter AND honey. We also got a couple of their homemade pralines, which I cannot say enough good things about. Perfect ratio of candy to pecans, everything a good praline strives to be. No kids menu (but that’s okay, just sharing info, not complaining). Hours are a bit limited, but I will definitely be back for more!

We went to the Beaver distillery just to have a cocktail, but not only did we have a great drink, but we had an amazing Gumbo dinner! Absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned, generous portions and the chef came to our table and explained the history of his Cajun specialties! Oh, and did I mention the his pralines for dessert? Gotta have!!
