Would stop in again
I don’t give out 5 stars often. This place is definitely worth stopping in for a bite to eat.
Grab plenty of napkins, the burgers are messy, but worth it.
The Truffle Fries Were So Good… I Told the Chef I’d Be Eating Them in Heaven.
If you’ve ever wondered what the hype is about at Black Sheep Burgers & Shakes in Springfield, MO — let me tell you, the moment we walked in around noon, the aroma alone made us believers. The kitchen crew was cranking out their famous Triple Truffle Fries, and honestly… shoutout to the chef because those fries could convert anyone. I joked that these would be the fries I’d eat in heaven — they were THAT good.
The restaurant was lively, a little dark toward the back (had to squint at the menu ), but the energy was great. We came for their Snake River Farms gourmet burgers, but our server let us know patties were temporarily out and someone had literally gone to buy more. So we snacked on truffle fries while we waited.
We ordered the Born in the U.S.A., The Foodie, and It Must’rd Be Love — bold flavors, fun toppings, and all very photogenic.
✅ Pros
• Outstanding service — friendly, honest, and communicative.
• Triple Truffle Fries = life changing ✨
• Creative, chef-driven burgers using Snake River Farms beef.
⚠️ Cons
• Burgers were very rich, with sauces that made the buns slippery. Prepare for a messy meal.
• The richness left us too full to try the famous shakes (next time!).
• Back area is dim and menus can be hard to read.
Pro Tips
• Get Triple Truffle Fries — non-negotiable.
• If you don’t love super-rich burgers, ask to go lighter on sauces.
• Sit near the windows for better lighting (or for menu reading ).
• Go earlier rather than later to avoid shake sell-outs.
Black Sheep is loud, fun, indulgent, and full of personality — the kind of place where fries steal your heart and burgers leave a memory. Even with the saucy chaos, I’d return for those heavenly fries.
Come hungry, come curious — leave with happiness.
Sadly the fries are not gluten free. However they did make a regular chocolate shake for my son. They cleaned out the machine to prevent cross contamination. The shake was delicious!
Overall great food and very knowledgeable and friendly staff!
It’s also located in the historic downtown, which is a very nice area.
The menu is 1 page of food and the other side is drinks. My kiddo thoroughly enjoyed her mocktail. We ordered the apple smoked fries but didn’t detect any smoke flavor. The seasoning was good but the batch was a bit overcooked. Burger was cooked perfectly but they all have a collection of aiolis on them, or other options (might consider building your own?).
I had a gluten free bun on the bacon burger. It was fantastic! The onions were way overdone so if you don’t like onions make sure to ask for none. If you don’t mind onions or like them but don’t want them to over power the sandwich then definitely as for light onions.
The bacon was really good on the burger! My grandson got the Parmesan fries and the bowl was HUGE! He loved the fries and he is only 18 months old.
The service was great, however they served could have given us a refill much sooner than he did. Our glasses were completely empty for a while, but he was still a great server. Super nice.
We will definitely be back!
