I’ve heard great things about Chuy’s, and this North Lamar location definitely lived up to the hype. The ambience is exactly what you’d want for a fun Austin meal—it’s quirky, colorful, and filled with eclectic decor (like the famous hubcaps and dog photos) that gives the place a vibrant, high-energy setting.
The service was impressively fast, especially considering how busy they were. As soon as we were seated, they brought out the chips and salsa. They are incredibly addictive and so filling that you have to be careful not to fill up before the main course.
I opted for the Veggie Enchiladas, and they were a fantastic value. They are delicious, packed with fresh ingredients, and very filling. It’s rare to find a vegetarian option that feels this substantial. Overall, it’s a great spot for a consistent, flavorful meal with a fun local vibe.

Chuy’s is an old Tex-Mex favorite. When getting the tortilla chips and salsa I always ask for the white salsa – it’s just perfect. The comfort food is tasting just as you expect it and portions are more than big enough. And this goes uniformly as far as I tried over all Chuy’s locations. You know what you’re gonna get and how will it taste and that the service will make you feel happy.

Bailie H is a gem—huge thanks for steering two hungry vegetarians in the right direction. Who knew the regular queso had chicken stock?! This Chuy’s is a great-looking spot, and while it was a little slow, it was absolutely worth the wait.

Chuy’s has always been an easy”Go-to” for us. Wouldn’t say it’s the best TexMex but the value, consistency, and service is pretty reliable. Samantha along with the team, really provided is a wonderful time and were very attentive. Thank you!

Chuy’s North Lamar is my favorite location. It’s always super friendly from staff, the food is awesome, and the decor is a lot of fun. Even if we do have to wait, it is usually not for very long. Also, the food always comes out delish and in a reasonable amount of time.

Great food, good service, booths are a little tight if you’re not very slender. No senior discounts. But prices are somewhat reasonable. Sparse handicap parking and abundant curbside pick up parking… queso is amazing, great chips and a lot of enchilada options. We’ll be back and would recommend to our friends.

Service was unfortunately terrible. The waitress had an attitude since we got sat down,did not offer water, we had to call her every time we needed something, did no check on the table even once after bringing our drinks, when asked if we could put in our order she seemed annoyed and said “go ahead” with a rather rude tone, a gentlemen brought our food, she passed the table a few times did not bring silverware or asked if everything was ok, did not asked if we wanted more drinks, served the surrounding tables more chips but not ours, seemed to be friendly with all other tables. Food was great as usual.
