The mimosas are really strong and yummy. The brisket burger was amazing, as well as the fries. The banana pancakes might be the best thing I’ve ever had!! Definitely will be back!
the food was great & Citizen has a wide selection for drinks — which i love anywhere. they have a variety of coffee, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks topped with cute straws! the churro french toast w/ caramel butterscotch sauce was yummy, along with the hashbrowns.
we sat at the bar because it was busy & the staff was all so nice and sweet. the interior design was incredibly cute.
the only thing i will mention is that you should be prepared to not find parking in the small lot next to the building; we valeted across the street for $10.
Drinks – so for my drink today I had the blue Matcha with lavender and almond milk, as soon as you get it, it is gorgeous colored the silky blue going into the almond milk. I was amazed by the presentation for sure but it’s the flavor that caught my full on palette. You taste the Matcha you taste the lavender but with the flavors combined it is like tasting the sweetest Fruitloop spoonful ever oh my gosh, it was so good.
Next, I had the fluffy grapefruit juice. I was a little confused why it was fluffy because I’ve never heard of something like that but when I tried this drink if you’re a big citrus and grapefruit drinker, this is the drink for you. I love how it’s sweet in the beginning and then it’s tart and then it’s bitter. It’s perfect for someone who enjoys trying new things and with an open eye to everything.
Food- now let’s get into food because y’all this was amazing so what I had was the Cast Iron Chorizo Baked Eggs, I also asked for a gluten-free bread because I have an allergy and I was so happy that Paula was like. Oh absolutely we have gluten-free options. and then for the sides because I am a little peckish I got the smoked salmon and it came with pickled onions, arugula, and a lemon y’all when I put this on my gluten-free bread I wanted to hop out of my chair. The smoked salmon was so fresh. The vegetables were so crisp. Oh my goodness it was amazing.
But it was the main dish that was like a burst of explosion of flavor you could taste the beans you could taste the egg you could taste the red peppers, the potato oh my God it was so delicious I definitely recommend everyone coming here for brunch. They have a huge drink menu of everything and anything you wanted all sorts of spirits, alcohol, nonalcoholic drinks they’ve got different coffees, Matcha drinks, chai lattes they even have wine YALL.
I had to finish off my brunch with a shot of espresso with lemon because it’s time to go to the gym
Lastly, I’m definitely coming back. I had so much fun chatting with everybody. The manager was there saying hello to everyone making sure that everyone was doing great.
The pancakes were so amazingly fluffy and taste. You can actually differentiate the butter, syrup and compost flavors. The Cast Iron Chorizo was nice. It looks small, but it’s quite filling. Different than our usual Tex/Mex style. Dig through the beans and Chorizo and discover the poached eggs which explode as you poke them. Such a tasty and exciting dish.
The prices are accessible and fair. Parking on east side and back of the building.
Definitely recommend. We’ll be back.
AMBIANCE – We were sat in a super crowded tight area which seem to be right underneath a blaring speaker. It was SO loud, we had to shout to hear each other. I asked about moving to another spot, but was told the other tables were reserved. I figured, no big deal, it’s Sunday brunch rush.
SERVICE – Service was slow & unhelpful. When our server greeted us, I asked his opinion on the fries because they both sounded amazing, and there were so many other things I wanted to try too. The server looked at me with disinterest and said “I don’t know, they are just fries” with a shrug, and “they taste like regular fries nothing special”. Okayyyy nevermind, not a lot of help there. Also we weren’t checked on mid-meal, except for when we were all of a sudden transferred a new server.
FOOD – We ordered Avo Toast, Blueberry Maple Pancakes, and the Chicken & Waffles.
The portion size of the Chicken & Waffle was laughable. It was literally like a kid’s size waffle cut in half with a couple “chick fil a”sized tenders on it. The taste was blah, nothing special. So that is definitely not recommended, unless you’re 6yrs old.
The Avo Toast had great flavor from the beet hummus and feta, but the sourdough toast was incredibly hard to chew and tasted like grain & seed toast, nothing like sourdough.
The compote for the Blueberry Maple Pancakes was good, but the pancakes were just so-so. They would’ve tasted so much better if they had “pancake crispy edges”.
Overall it was a super cute, obviously popular spot. But maybe it’s just for ambience & brunch cocktails because the food and service were definitely lacking.
