I really wanted to like this place, but my taste buds left feeling confused and a little betrayed . I ordered the steak and eggs and also tried the French toast. Everything looked promising… until I took a bite. Absolutely no seasoning. Nothing. It was giving hospital cafeteria vibes, and not even the good kind ️.

The steak tasted like it had never met a spice in its life. The eggs tried their best but needed help. The French toast was basically warm bread with hopes and dreams. I kept reaching for the syrup like it could fix everything, but even that wasn’t enough.

The only saving grace was the hot chocolate, which was actually pretty good. If I ever come back, it might be just for that ☕✨.

Overall, the food was bland, and I walked out wishing I had gone somewhere else for breakfast. My fork was working harder than the flavor.

The pancakes were great! The bacon and eggs were also good, but you can’t go wrong with bacon and eggs. Service was ok, I was disappointed that they (one was being trained)never came back to check on me and did not ask if I wanted water. I was there for 35 min and not once was I asked of i wanted or needed anything else.

3.5 stars. The service was reasonable and the atmosphere was cozy. The food was average. My husband had the 2x2x3. And I had the egg white garden scrambler. My food came out in a puddle of water, so I only ate the top layer. My husband’s food was mediocre. It wasn’t the worst breakfast I’ve ever had, but I won’t be going back. Additionally, wifi accessibility had to be approved by the manager, which was kind of bizarre.

I eat at a lot of breakfast joints because I love breakfast and brunch! And being a chef, I expect certain things to be cooked a certain way, and properly. And eating at the original pancake House, I’m rarely disappointed. I’m always looking for that special place. This is my wife’s favorite restaurant out of any place. We’ve eaten so far. They give you more than you can imagine to eat and there’s always some to take home. The waffles are cooked perfectly. The pancakes are thick and tender. The omelettes are huge and baked, which makes them a very unique dish compared to regular omelettes that are rolled. I really can’t say anything negative about this place… Except that occasionally if you get something that isn’t as you expected, just have them send it back they will make sure it’s perfect when they bring it out. And don’t forget, free refills on coffee! So drink up! Now, in writing this, I’m not sure if I already did a review… I thought I had but maybe I didn’t. This is an accumulation of several visits over the past few months or so. I try to get something different every time I go so I can have different photos to showcase. But you know when you have a favorite joint you always get your favorites.

This place is a hidden gem!

If you have never been here before, give them a try…

My wife wanted crepes and there are a few places closer to my house but she always wants to return here.

It’s one of the few places I know of that serves FRESH SQUEEZED OJ. Yes, it is a game changer…

The breakfast here is priced reasonably, but the food is fresh, as often as we come here, never a complaint.

My wife has tried most of their crepe offerings and loves them all. I, on the other hand, have tried their french toast, pancakes, crepes, and omelets and can say they are all excellent.

The Original Pancake House is located at the Jennifer Rd -facing entrance to the Annapolis Mall, between Cheesecake Factory & California Pizza Kitchen. All seating is inside, theres no outdoor patio seating (6/25) although you can enter through the patio door.

It has a clean although basic diner decor & vibe. Booth seating was comfortable without those worn in butt divots from previous customers. The table height was good for short & tall, no singing down so your armpits are table level. They also have table seating for those that prefer it.

Weekday lunch was not busy- we were seated upon entry and waitress was table side in a couple minutes as we read the large, 2 sided menu.

Lots to choose from under several categories, I saw something delicious in each area … ahhh choices! Difficult decision- chicken & waffle? Eggs Benedict? Scrumptious waffles or pancakes? Lunch sandwiches? (Check their menu out beforehand if deciding is hard!)

We ended up with strawberry crepe and Monte Cristo. Both were very generous and tasty, although a slight improvement would make them superb.

Monte Cristo had 2 types of meat – thick cuts of ham and turkey. What needed improvement was assembly – it appeared the meat and french toast slices were cooked separately then assembled with the cheese and grilled to melt the cheese. Preference and AFAIK traditional technique is to assemble, soak in egg mixture then fry it. Also it came with some type of syrup, not traditional raspberry preserves. But hey! Its a restaurant chain so the deviation was disappointing but not totally surprising. Good flavors, ample portion.

Request the hash browns instead of home fries…because they weren’t what we wanted.

The side of “home fries” weren’t, they were just deep fried unseasoned potato cubes. Unfortunately that is becoming so common because it takes less effort, training and time. I truly cherish those remaining restaurants that make true home fries!

The hash brown wasn’t very tasty and would not order again. Hard to cut $ chewy- disappointing.

The 2 strawberry crepes were very tasty, the crepe thinnish and tender covered with a lot of fresh strawberries and accompanied by a little pitcher of strawberry syrup. It was filled with “strawberry cream cheese”, which was the only drawback because it was runny and sugary. The runny-ness meant it oozed out when cutting into the 2 crepes and it didn’t hold the strawberry syrup. Still tasty.
Some other photos show 3 crepes,
I received 2. Not sure if that’s “ shrinkflation” or a mistake ‍♂️

This was my first time eating here and I wasn’t disappointed. The prices are very reasonable and the service is outstanding. I just might have to drive from the Eastern Shore to Annapolis Mall at least once a month just to eat here.

Finally ate here for the first time a little while back, and it was so good. I ordered the 2x2x3 from the breakfast specials, and that is 2 large eggs, 2 pieces of bacon or sausage, and 3 buttermilk pancakes. It’s priced very fairly at $11 or 12.
I ordered my eggs over easy and bacon crispy. Everything was cooked perfectly. The customer service was excellent. I didn’t get my waitress name, but I believe she had somewhat short black hair and she was terrific. I will definitely be returning and I highly recommend
