Fantastic spot! I ordered the vegan platter and enjoyed all of the variety it offered. A standout was the jalapeño dish. The food came out super quick and the staff was great

Really liked this place. I enjoyed the vegetarian Samosa and the Vegetarian platter. The Samosa appetizer with the two dips was especially memorable. Reasonable prices, final tab with tip (no drinks ordered beyond water) was in the low 20s. Had to take a box full of food home. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Food was perfect for a chilly winter night.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Erta Ale Ethiopian!
On walking in, the space feels very welcoming and warm with interesting wall art and a beautiful tea set display. The server was busy tending to a group so the bartender came and sat us and helped us. Everyone was very friendly and kind, and the food came out quite fast.
We enjoyed most of the food very much-
The sambusa had a great lentil filling but I especially enjoyed the shell which was super crispy but thick enough to also have some chew.
All the food had wonderful flavor and different from other Ethiopian food we’ve tried, had more texture (wasn’t just mushy), which was pleasant.

Would recommend and will come back next time we want Ethiopian!

Visited Erta Ale on a Monday evening, wasn’t busy, got seated right away. Cool, laid-back atmosphere. Server was nice and knowledgeable, answered all our questions. My sister ordered the food so I forgot the name of the combo dish we got. The spices and flavors were on point, and the plate was huge. Four of us weren’t able to finish it. Definitely worth giving it a try.

FYI- metered street parking.

Wow the food here is extremely good. Our vegan platters were super fresh and flavorful. It’s really fancy inside and seems adequate for hosting large parties or just having a nice relaxing dinner.

Delicious and great prices! 4 adults split the Erta Ale Special. It was tasty and offered a variety of proteins and vegetables. We recommend ordering a tea. They bring a cute little tray.

First time to the area with my wife and we wanted to try some food from East Africa. We just used Google and went to the highest recommended one per our Uber driver. Per me/my wife (us), go to this place! Very friendly and the food is amazing! Tasted fresh, looked good and we enjoyed it all. We had not really had Ethiopian food and now will be searching for local food of this quality. All the dishes in these photos were amazing!

– Veggie Sambusa
– Beef (non-spicy) Tibs
– Gomen Be Siga

Thank you!

While we were in Minnesota for our event, we had the absolute pleasure of dining at Erta Ale Ethiopian Restaurant. The owners, Amy and Derje, were the best hosts we could have asked for welcoming us with such warmth and genuine hospitality.

They treated us to a wonderful buffet that was overflowing with authentic Ethiopian flavors. The kitfo, aybe, and gomen were out of this world fresh, perfectly seasoned, and truly unforgettable. Every dish, from the injera to the wot and tibs, was prepared with care and love, giving us a real taste of home.

On top of the incredible food, the customer service was exceptional. Amy and Derje made us feel like family, ensuring we were comfortable and that every detail was perfect.

If you’re ever in Minnesota, Erta Ale Ethiopian Restaurant is a must-visit for the delicious buffet, the out-of-this-world kitfo, aybe, and gomen, and the amazing hospitality that makes you feel right at home.

Came here on Valentine’s Day – our first time having ethopian food. Service took over an hour and forty minutes just to have a meal. We were told tea would be complimentary because they were out of the other type of tea but they still charged us. We sat for over an hour waiting for someone to bring us the check, while there were tables that were empty around us. It was really off putting and we noticed other customers near us who had the same experience of not having a server assist them. On top of us waiting for a check / tab – we had 3 plates of food that were dirty (our finished plates with our napkins) sitting on our table for an hour without anyone to come take them off the table. I am really sad because we honestly wanted to have such a food experience for the first time trying this cuisine, but waiting for so long – our server came to take our order, delivered our food, and we didn’t see her again until an hour and 40 minutes later when we had to flag someone else down for the check. The jazz band was incredible but this was a really disappointing experience for us and we won’t be back.
