For an early evening dinner on a Friday night, the wait was non-existent to our surprise and we were seated immediately. We were getting a little worried though because after being seated, we were waiting at our table for about 5-10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us. Thankfully, after flagging down someone and getting momentarily helped by a different waiter, our own waiter, Jonathan, showed up and apologized for the wait. Jonathan’s demeanor, professionalism, cheerful attitude and humor saved the experience from going downhill.
My husband and I ordered some drinks (which were amazing!), and calamari to share which was crispy and flavorful while paired with the 2 dipping sauces it came with. The restaurant had a special going on in which we could order soup or salad and pasta of our choice as much as we wanted. My husband ordered the Zuppa Toscana soup and created his pasta to have Italian sausage, five cheese marinara and angel hair. I ordered the Chicken & Gnocchi soup with fettuccine alfredo and crispy chicken. Everything was so good, the portions were decent and all the food had incredible flavor. The breadsticks were fresh and so fluffy; we enjoyed dipping them in our soups.
We loved that with this deal they send you home with a pasta to go, so we both customized another pasta each and also ordered dessert to go (we got the Pumpkin Cookie Butter Cheesecake and Black Tie Mousse Cake which were both so good!).
Overall, we both very much enjoyed our time at Olive Garden and were very happy to have Jonathan as our waiter; it’s not often we get outstanding service from a waiter so this was one to remember! We’ve love to return in the future, and hopefully we can get Jonathan as our waiter again!
There was no friendly greeting however I did initiate by saying hi. How are you guys doing this evening? They at least responded politely. We were escorted to our table by the server, who was also up at the front at the hose stand. Now don’t get me wrong. I get that when the restaurant isn’t busy and it’s closer to closing time. It can be a little exhausting and disappointing to see someone come in that you have to wait on. I totally get it. I used to work in a restaurant however you don’t want the customer to experience that disappointment as it is not the customer’s fault.
In any case we had ordered a ravioli appetizer that was hard as a rock. Thing that I’ve been in restaurants before and I’ve even worked in a restaurant. I can tell that the raviolis had freezer burns. It may, my assumption, have not been in a closed container/box, because the raviolis didn’t even have enough bread crumbs and parts of the ravioli were white.
In any case, the server was great at replacing the item with a mozzarella appetizer and warmed up to us. She was definitely trying her best considering the restaurant was empty, so I aprpeciate her offer. The disappointing part is that no manager came to our table to follow up.
That’s usually a standard procedure, especially in the customer service world. Not that I’m judging, but I kinda am. It’s understandable why the employees seem somewhat kind of annoyed by customers coming in it always comes down to how they’re being treated by management. Again, I’m only assuming.
In any case, our server did her past and I have sympathy, considering that all of the factors that went into our whole experience does come down to back of the house front of the house and management.
Overall, the food was good, but the inflation kicked this place in the junk with its prices (haven’t been to an Olive Garden for a long time). Our server was also trying to keep up with multiple tables, so it was a pretty slow service type of night after having a wait time twice as long as they said when they checked us in.
We’re chalking the slow service up to a busy night with too few employees. It was still a good night and the food was good.
Our waiter was fast, efficient and friendly. I order my typical soup, salad and bread sticks. Husband got the Seafood Alfredo and was happy with it. But, he’s pretty easy to please! It was an enjoyable meal. Very standard and nothing overwhelmingly amazing. Just good old fashioned, predictable, fast American Italian food.
But the waitress, our server!!
Holy moly guys, for her alone I’d go back! She really went above and beyond her duties! She really is like all the cheesy commercials we see, “cause when you’re here your family”.. well, let me tell you, THAT WAS HER!! It felt like we had dinner at a family members house. She made us laugh smile and she was all around such a fun person to be around. Hated that I had to share her , but you know, she had to do her job and help others..but boy, did she do her job WELL!
Love her love her love her!! Thank you Lilly for making our start of a new year, A GREAT ONE! (1/1/2026) I will forever come back to you, just to see your warm energy again!
