Only 2 complaints… they don’t know what extra crispy has browns are
And the 2nd isn’t really a complaint… but thr sweet tea is extremely sweet.
Also, very tight building, make sure to bring cash
The food was delicious!

Very good food. We were sat in the back with the group tables. It was just me and one other. I think we got lost in the busyness. But hey the food was very delicious.

Good diner with exceptional service from Von! Thank you, Von for the excellent experience, good recommendations, all with great humor and personality. Love the vibe and the prices are very fair.

Server was fantastic! Food was not good! Hashbrowns undercooked very greasy! Asked for 2 eggs scrambled well with cheese, eggs were slimy and not at all done! Was excited to try fried apples, they were a bust too. Toast was wayyyy over buttered and their sweet tea was like brown water. I had heard this place was really good, maybe we caught them on an off day. I hate to leave bad reviews….but I will say our server was awesome as well as other staff we encountered.

I haven’t been in Tommy’s in quite some time. I had biscuits & gravy w/two overeasy eggs on top and a side of grits. Sausage gravy was as good as I remembered. The overeasy eggs were big and cooked nicely. However, the biscuits were a complete fail . Literally zero difference between hockey pucks and these biscuits. I remember tall fluffy biscuits, not these things. Grits were fine, but the server forgot to bring butter with them. The server was attentive and was quick to bring the butter when I asked. In time, I’m sure I’ll return and order something different.

We use to travel here occasionally to enjoy the breakfast dining experience. However, it’s apparent that nothing is the same under this new management. I sent my complete entree back (shells in my eggs, old hash browns & biscuits), the pancakes were good. Most food wasn’t fresh (biscuits, hash browns, fried apples), they no longer cook with/have butter (biscuits, grits), and lack flavor. They also do not provide proof of purchase with a legitimate receipt with the business name, address, phone number, and items purchased on it. We will not be traveling back in the future.

A great place to stop for a well-made and classic diner breakfast if in the Hampton, VA area. The decor is classic and the staff is very friendly. The food is the star, and I especially enjoyed the pancakes in my house special combo.
It’s worth noting this place only takes cash, and when I visited, their in-house ATM machine was not working. But definitely worth a stop if in the area for breakfast.

My first time eating at this restaurant and probably my last I ordered catfish with two sides. The fish comes with hush puppies. You don’t see them because they came after I was done eating . Also when you order catfish it usually come with 1 1/2 pieces of fish, my other half came when I was about done eating the whole fish . The sides were pretty decent. When it came time to check out this place only takes cash apparently there’s a sigh about this at the entrance oh and let me add they have their own ATM
So yeah very inconvenient and you’d think the waitress or someone would have said this when we were ordering but there was a guy named Benjamin who let me and my colleague Chime him and he gave us cash… So thanks Benjamin but I most definitely will not be dining here again

Catfish is great, but whoever did this to the famous toast I always go for needs a new career! It’s nasty and is like they just threw a glob of butter on it and a whole bunch of cinnamon. It’s inedible & all of them are like that!

I have eaten here a few times but not since they reopened. This was my boyfriend’s first time. He was eager to try it since I was raving so much about the place. The decor is typical of a diner. Reminds me of grandma’s kitchen growing up. The kitchen is right there so you can see everything cooked to order. The menu is wonderful and I love the fact you can have breakfast, lunch and or diner food. Tommy’s is a cash only establishment. It states that right on the front door. They also have an ATM in the lobby/waiting area. There are table and chairs and they do have a room for a banquet or large event.. Our server was an absolute gem. She was very attentive but not too overbearing. It was so hard to decide what to eat but I ended up choosing the “Breakfast from the grill” – 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and then two sides and french toast. I had no idea that it came with all of that! I’m very picky about my eggs and they were the perfect over medium. I also ordered brown gravy for my hashbrowns. My boyfriend ordered the 2 eggs with 2 country fried bone in pork chops. That also came with 1 side and toast or biscuit. You get very reasonable portions for the price. I would be surprised if someone didn’t end up taking home left overs. We went during a weekday. If you go on a weekend I highly suggest you get there when it opens. The line forms out the door and the parking lot will be full. But it is worth the wait!
The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because the floor is sticky but other than that – well exceeds standards.
