Food was absolutely delicious. The decor was so cute. Very loud inside. Our waitress was great. The bacon blue cheese coleslaw was amazing. The chili cheese fries were very good. The burgers were good. We ordered them medium well and they were definitely well done. A little dry but the flavor was good. I’d order them medium when we return!

Fun, southern atmosphere with descent food. We sat outside in October and enjoyed the fresh air. My wife’s and my burgers were really good, my coleslaw has been better in past visits.
My wife had the Annabelle Lee, and I had the Beef sleeper burger.
Beer price surprised me, seemed high, but maybe that’s because we are from Wisconsin where beer flows like water at great prices.
We always make a stop at Poe’s when visiting.

This is the best food I have ever eaten hands down, I got the tell tale heart burger and I finished it clean (I never am able to). The staff was very kind and attended to every table even when packed. They have beef chicken and vegan for the patty on your burger,and have great drinks. I wish to visit again soon.

The atmosphere was wonderful! We sat outside at covered picnic tables. The inside seating was warmly lit with cozy nooks. The bathroom was nice with book pages lining the walls. The food was generously portioned and fresh. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was delicious. You can’t see the pile of boiled egg, bacon crumbles, and bleu cheese. The pimento cheese crouton was unique and yummy.

Tavern on Sullivan Island with a wacky vibe and fun, friendly wait staff. Edgar Allen Poe everywhere – pages from his books wallpapered the restroom walls. Mahi Mahi fish tacos were good and the burgers were THICK and cooked to order. Perfect fries the size, saltiness, and texture that all fries should be. Good beer list.

Hey ya’ll this was a bucket list place for me and it only took me years to finally be able to stop in. We went durning spring break so it was crowded and parking was challenging. Still the wait was only 25 mins. From the parking lot signage through to the table there is sooo much to take in. It’s a smaller place and loaded down with so much memorabilia, down to the bathroom walls. I absolutely LOVED the subdued lighting here, it adds to the effect of ambiance. The staff was super nice and the manager made his rounds to every table! The menu was perfect size, not too many options but still plenty of options. Prices are not bad for a coastal, artistic niche place. I got the marinated chicken quesadillas with onion straws, sweet tea, and a dark a stormy (mixed drink) which all cost $34. So pretty median in cost. I highly recommend this experience, especially if you are a Poe fan!!!

Tried Poe’s Tavern for the first time today. I will definitely be going back! Great theme and atmosphere! Loved the dark tavern theme. I had the “Pit and the Pendulum” burger with fries. The food was great, and a generous portion too! Our waitress (Sally) was very good, and always made sure everything was taken care of. If you’re in the Charleston area, make the short trip to Sullivan’s Island and check this place out!

We stopped by Poe’s Tavern on Sullivan’s Island and were blown away! I had the Bug Burger topped with pimento cheese—and WOW. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while.
We also ordered the queso, and it was a total hit—creamy, cheesy, and just the right amount of kick. The vibe was chill, the service was great, and even better, parking was free (which is a big win on the island).
Prices were super reasonable for the quality of food and location. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving a killer burger and a relaxed island experience. ️

10/10 recommend! Such a cool vibe. Absolutely loved our experience. Drinks are delicious and bartenders know what they’re doing! We just did drinks and nachos but would love to go back for more.
