Maltby Cafe is such a gem! Their menu has exciting options for breakfast, lunch and drinks. It gives a delightful dining atmosphere with such friendly service and lightning fast serving times. The veggie scramble is my favorite with the home potatoes being so nicely cooked. The fresh fruit was luscious.

I hadn’t been mean here in almost 25 years. I remembered loving the cinnamon roll but wasn’t sure about the rest of the food. The cinnamon roll was super good. Huge, warm, lots of icing. And it had some raisins in it. Not with to bother me, but worth mentioning. Small nit-pick, I wish the icing was either cream cheese based or more similar to Cinnabon. It wasn’t bad, but it tasted like a standard powdered sugar icing.

I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy was great, but the biscuit wasn’t my favorite style. It was pretty crumbly and lost all structure as I dug into it. Tasted fine. But I like a flakier Southern biscuit as opposed to this looser kind.

My biggest issue is with the potatoes. They say that they’re country-fried red potatoes, but I don’t think they’re fried at all. They were sort of al dente. The pictures online make them look crispy and golden brown, but these were pale and soft on the outside, still firm in the middle. I believe they’re cooking them in too large of a batch and they’re not able to get a good texture. This is a personal preference thing, and others might like this. If I had to sacrifice some volume to get a better texture, I would gladly do it.

Overall I’m still giving it a 4 out of 5, but I wouldn’t come back for the potatoes or the biscuits and gravy. The cinnamon roll is great, though. $20 for this plate of biscuits and gravy with undercooked potatoes and two eggs (excellent eggs) is a bit steep.

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff, great food and large portions. Had the ham and cheese omelette, blueberry pancakes, and after seeing another table’s cinnamon roll and looking at the reviews I had to get one to go. I will definitely return.

This place has been around since 1988 and for good reason. The staff is amazingly kind. The service is good. If you struggle walking down or up stairs then this might not be for you.
The restaurant is downstairs and a wait is common. The draw is the cinnamon bun which can feed 4 easily. I got the Swedish pancakes which were good but the marionberry fruit was very cold which I felt took away from the dish.
We also got the biscuits and gravy which could use more gravy. The sausage was excellent I hope this place stays around for many years to come. It is an excellent cozy family restaurant that your family and friends would enjoy.

Well I had a slight higher expectations from this place but it wasn’t. The food felt more greasy to me. Overall it was good for a weekend brunch thing but not great.

I love this place with my whole heart. Maltby Cafe has been my favorite breakfast spot in the greater Seattle area for over 30 years, and that loyalty has been very earned.

The cinnamon rolls are legendary for a reason. Warm, massive, perfectly gooey, and somehow still worth every bite even after decades of ordering them. The scrambles are always comforting, hearty, and done right, the kind of breakfast that keeps you full and happy all day.

The ambience is pure cozy nostalgia. It feels like a place where time slows down a little, conversations linger, and breakfast actually feels special. No rush, no trend-chasing, just consistently great food and a vibe that makes you want to come back again and again.

Some places are good. This place is part of my life.

How does a Cafe serving ginormous prices at fair prices stay in business these days? Maltby Cafe should be on the Food Network. This restaurant served the largest salmon benedict I’ve ever had in my life and it was 50% the price you’d get in Hawaii. The flavor was perfect. I came with a party of 5 and Sarah was one of those servers who could make a failed dish no big deal because she’s so nice. My entire family loved the food, the incredible value, and the service Sarah provided. I apologize for not writing this sooner. We had brunch on Oct 11th.

It’s been a long while since I’ve been to Maltby Cafe and I’m happy to report that nothing has changed. It’s still giving you massive amounts of fresh, delicious food for a very reasonable price which is a rarity these days. Couple this with fast, friendly service, great coffee, and a great atmosphere and Maltby Cafe is still the best breakfast in Snohomish County and maybe even Western Washington.

We got the Popeye omelette and a cinnamon roll. If you come here, you need to get the cinnamon roll this thing is huge and tasty. The omelette was very good, the filling is a good mix of savory and salty with the sweetness coming from the eggs. The side of potatoes is well seasoned and don’t need anything (ketchup or hot sauce tired them both). The cinnamon roll has too much icing and raisins whuch are my only complaints about it.
The interesting part about this place is that it is in the basement of the building.

Wow, just wow! This place is a gem. The food was beautiful and came out really fast (even with a pretty full restaurant!). I had a Mediterranean scramble with red potatoes and an English muffin, and my sister in law had the French toast breakfast. Both were very good! The whole staff was very friendly and polite, and our server Laurie was a sweetheart. She told us a little of the history of the place and shared how much she loved working there. Really great experience all the way around. I was in town for a concert, but I would absolutely make the hour+ drive just to come back to this restaurant. Thank you! 🙂
