I passed this location multiple times and decided to give it a try, especially when I noticed a daily lunch special advertisement in the window.
First and foremost, when I walked in the dining area was empty for the most part.
The “corn bread” has the resemblance, texture and taste of a corn muffin.
While the chicken was rather bland, the gravy had a watery texture. I felt like I was pouring soup on my chicken instead.
It was unusual serving the sweet potatoes and stuffing in a plastic container; after all, I made it crystal clear that my order was for dine in. I’m sorry to say the recipe for the sides was a miss; thr appearance speaks for itself.
If I wasn’t hungry and if I hadn’t paid money, I probably would not have finished it.

You think a business that includes the name “Texas” will have good meats right? Not this place. Like others mentioned, the meats are overcooked and dry. We ordered ribs and the rotisserie chicken.
The sides were decent but messing up sweet potatoes, sauteed spinach, beans, or plantains would have demoted this review to 1 star. Our GrubHub order notes were completely missed when we mentioned yes to utensils and selecting ice tea over pink lemonade due to an allergy. ☹️

We have ordered in from here many times. Every time, we have been very impressed with the food. The chicken skewers are amazing! I was so surprised to see so many bad reviews. Maybe we have just been very lucky, but we have always enjoyed what we have ordered. We have never eaten in the restaurant, we have only ordered delivery.

It’s a small little place. Quaint quiet calm are all the words that come to mind to describe the atmosphere of this restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive. Food is a hit or miss. I ordered brisket, which was incredibly dry. I don’t recommend the brisket, but the Chipotle Chicken sandwich was good and looked good, too. The seasoned fries were on point. Piña colada shake was good. Prices are decent. There isn’t really any parking other than street parking and expensive parking lots walking distance.

Where do I begin, because I’m super duper annoyed & disgusted. Wednesday, Feb.21, 2024 I stopped by, since I was in the area. I ordered the ribs/chicken combo & the Corona battered fried codfish with 4 sides and cornbread. The cornbread was decent, BUT the Ribs were AWFUL-AWFUL. I was served an old stale half of slab of ribs, which most likely was microwaved & then saturated with BBQ sauce to cover up the dried out slab. Unbelievably ridiculous to say the least. My fish,that get everytime I visit was, soggy tasteless. The fried chicken was dried. My mashed sweet potatoes, were a watery mushy tasteless paste. The baked beans, were so watery, I thought I was given bean soup. I can’t begin to explain the so-called “cole-slaw.”
This was my 1st time ordering the ribs- I’m going to need a refund for some of this GOD awful food. Are you kidding me? $53 bucks for tasteless, ill prepared food. Please ST P
I know about restaurant food, in particular bbq meats. I was a co-owner of Silky’s Ribs of Hackensack at the turn of this century in NJ. We made the best ribs and soulfood sides in Bergen Cty. We should have bottled our sauce, that’s how great it was.

The (1) thing was that the server failed to put the BBQ sauces and condiments in the bag. I specifically asked the server if everything, bbq sauces & condiments and plastic ware were in the bag. She said, YES.

Best staff!! I made a mistake on my takeout order and they took the time to correct my mistake for me. They were super polite and incredibly understanding. Not the usual experience at all!

How does 3+3+3= 1? I will tell you. The ratings do not allow you to rate attitude and store good-will toward the community. I had been a patron in this store on many occasions. This day I asked to use the bathroom. I am a senior man and the least threatening, in appearance, that a person can be. I made it clear that I have often patronized the store, but to no avail. It is for patrons ONLY. No community good will. Keep your food, keep your restaurant.

I ordered a brisket platter “From the Grill”. This random meat isn’t grilled, and it comes served with a thin gravy. Gravy meant for mashed potatoes or a Salisbury steak, which is EXACTLY what is tastes and smells like. You can’t just call some random beef roast a ‘grilled brisket’. That’s just wrong.
