Flour: A Culinary Gem in Wells-next-the-Sea
Reviews
Ordered online, and food just coming out of the oven at the pick up time.
Salad was presented to an eat in level, and was fresh and tasty, with a mix of tomato types.
Chicken wings (ordered mild rather than hot) were nice and crispy with plenty of meat on them. There was plenty of sauce underneath to dip each wing, and we picked a ranch dip to accompany them. About 9 to a portion. Again very tasty.
Marguerita pizza had a thin base, with a nice soft crusty edge. The sauce was sweet and , for us anyway, the right amount.
Thoroughly recommend, and our only regret is that we didn’t see this place in time to try their Mexican Tuesday menu, but as regular visitors to the area we will put that right soon enough
Visited mid week 6pm weds, (early Nov), and it was relatively quiet, so food turn around was very quick.
The staff were attentive and chilled, not loitering and hassle like you get in other places.
The pizza was perfect, thin based, great flavours and the Rosemary fries were beautifully seasoned.
Good selection of desserts but I couldn’t manage a pizza based one, so went all out on ice cream, with candy floss, sherbet & a flake.
Great fun scooping it up and putting it in the cornet!
Plan to go back on my last evening in Wells-next-the-sea. Couldn’t give the team a better recommendation than that!
I’m calling it: Flour in Wells-next-the-Sea makes the best pizza in the UK. Fantastic light but crispy base, great charring, beautiful toppings, nice salads. Some of the pizza choices are a bit too trendy IMO. I prefer the Italian canon of pizza toppings. But everything is beautifully executed and incredibly tasty. Plenty of non pizza options which all looked very good. We just walked in and didn’t have to queue. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.
Please ignore any negative reviews about this place, they don’t know what they’re talking about!
It was early 5pm when we sat down and only at 80 percent capacity it got full very quickly.
We ordered 2 starters to share and one pepperoni pizza.
The food arrived quickly but altogether. We would have preferred to eat starters first.
The water we had was warm which was disappointing.
The pizza crust and base had burnt in places so was inedible. Don’t serve burnt food.
The pepperoni was sparce only 16 pieces on a large so some slices had only one piece.
The staff were friendly and efficient. The bill arrived quickly with service charge included for a table of 2. I would rather leave the tip in cash so waitress gets in on the shift.
Overall it was lovely to see a new restaurant. And it’s busy.
For the quality of food I would say it’s very expensive.
Pizza needs to be improved.
Desserts we’re lovely.
The food was absolutely gorgeous, the Samphire Salad stood out from its perfect combination of saltiness and a bit of a kick in the dressing. The pizza dough tasted fresh and they didn’t scrimp on the toppings and the truffle and Parmesan fries were delicious too. Also we were able to takeaway our leftovers which meant we got to enjoy the pizza again on the beach the next day.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Wells and we will certainly be returning when we go back!
