My wife and I, along with some friends, rolled into town a little after lunch time and were looking for a place to eat. We came upon this location.

First, the appearance of the restaurant was very cool. It definitely had that “you are welcome here” vibe. Upon getting in line the gentleman behind the counter asked if it was our first time. I guess we smelled like out-of-towners =). We said yes. He proceeded to give us the run down of what they had and thier specials. He was very kind and helpful. Then we were also helped by a young lady who also treated us all very well. So, customer service was awesome.

The food, was very good. We got a mixture of brisket, turkey, and sausage. Mac and cheese, green beans, and potatoes. And topped it off with a cherry pie. Food was delicious and we had left overs which is always a plus.

Took a couple pics of the decor which was awesome

The prices were reasonable and the barbecue was decent. Their customer service was very good but not the quickest. It is never expect but they do offer a military discount which was nice. The reason for my rating is that I felt the brisket had a lot of fat and the spicy sauce just didn’t seem to have much kick. The setup to order and sit down has you fighting against the crowd and blocking the drink machine.

The combo choices are listed in large lettering but no where are the sides (beans, jalapeño beans, mac n’ cheese, sliced potatoes, peach and blackberry cobbler) or even meat choices listed (ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sausage and chicken). They might have had green beans but couldn’t tell. They had another sign lower down in big letters behind the cashier for more food choices but couldn’t tell what it said. Overall if you’ve had barbecue anywhere in the south or even competitors I feel you get a much better smoked flavor.

Drove by this place during our visit to Ruidoso & we’re very glad we stopped in! You’re immediately greeted by a delicious smokey scent & very friendly staff who gave knowledgeable recommendations leaving us with the perfect lunch. There is something for everyone here (I got the carnitas & sausage) & the prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be returning here!

It was good but a bit pricey for the portion size/taste. The smoked turkey was moist and tasty. Brisket is better here in Can’t Stop Smokin’ than in Famous Dave’s but Famous Dave’s beats there cornbread because here it’s a bit dry. Rudy’s beats both in brisket (There’s no Rudy’s or Famous Dave’s here in Ruidoso anyway so it may very well be “best in town”) Service however is hands down awesome.

Very good BBQ and the prices were reasonable. The wait can be long even for Togo so plan ahead.

Ordered the meal for 8 which comes with 2 whole chickens and we were told they were out of chicken. They offered to replace 2 whole chickens with half of a chicken breast. Instead we asked for more ribs instead so they charged us $5 more. The meat was very dry, the cornbread was good and the beans were amazing. On the way out i noticed that they had about 30 whole chickens available. When i questioned the manager she acted like she didn’t know what i was talking about. I told her if we knew they had more coming out we would have waited. She said she didn’t think we would want to wait an hour. When i became upset with that answer she changed her position and claimed that she didn’t know there would be more chicken coming out even after telling me she knew it was going to an hour for the chicken to be ready when we ordered.

The manager never made an attempt to accommodate us for the seemingly intentional lack of chicken resulting in them charging us more money for less food. I’ve never had such poor service and i am amazed that they are still in business.

Place is good. It is not however the best BBQ I’ve had. We got the biggest family plate to share and get everything. The the sausage was my favorite. The mac and cheese was my least favorite part.

Also the Apple cobbler was to die for. Super delicious.

The staff was friendly.

Outstanding BBQ! This place has exceptional BBQ meats! Portion sizes are off the charts. The desserts are just so-so (premade, I’m sure), breads are good, beans are good. Great atmosphere for BBQ in the mountain air. I do recommend you give it a whirl!

This is great BBQ! I ordered ribs with corn and potatoes: delicious! My husband had the pulled pork sandwich, and he devoured that thing! They also have some of the best apple pie I’ve ever tasted. And the cookies are HUGE! Wish we weren’t moving from the Southwest. Would love to come back here again.
