Sully’s Irish Pub has been the only tried and true Irish bar in the Des Moines area since 1977. Sully’s is the oldest Irish bar in The Des Moines area and is know for the biggest St. Patrick’s Day party around! After 40 years Sullys was relocated to the corner of 63rd and Grand. We now offer fresh food with local ingredients and nothing is frozen! Best wings in town along with great burgers, cheese curds, great drink specials and number one seller of Guinness! Sully’s will continue to treat you like family and here’s to another 40!

Enduring Irish bar with a comfy vibe & lots of beers on tap, plus a dog-friendly covered patio.

Sully’s Irish Pub (West Des Moines, IA) Review

As far as my experiences with Irish Pubs, this is in the upper tier and worthy of a stop when you are in the mood for a Pint and some solid bar food.

Our server, Jude, was super friendly and attentive. Portions are big! Only down side is that the cheese curds could have been served a little warmer. My rueben was piled with cornbeef. The fire burger was huge.

Honestly, the only time this place is worth it is St. Paddy’s Day—grab a green beer and call it good. No real reason to go otherwise. The cheese curds are massive but so salty I could feel my blood pressure spike immediately lol.

The place was absolutely packed, and the poor waitress was the only server, so we waited about 35 minutes just for drinks and almost an hour for food. The fries were hands-down the worst we’ve ever had, and the wings were so bland we genuinely questioned if they were even real. That said, a friend ordered the Sully burger and said it was actually good.

sat at the bar about 3:20pm and i believe her name was laurie was our bartender she did a good job explaining specials but then when downhill from there. didmt explain any drinks to my friend and i so we ordered a drink bc it sounded fruit it taste like pure liquor as well as my friends did we had to wait and wait finally had to say something and get the bartenders attention to get me a beer instead when prdering my friends did asked if a certain sauce was spicy was told no well when our food came out mine was good but she wasnt able to eat bc it was definitely spicy and the bartender didnt check back to make sure were good and then when she did it was bc i asked another server for boxes and then laurie proceeded to blame my friend and i that we need to realize things when we order drinks that it was liquor mostly and she doesnt know my friends taste buds so hows she suppose to know. well then dont give suggestions or say something isn’t spicy!!! We definitely will not be back!! should have went to bennigans or to ames and went to dublin bay

I came here for the first time on Saint Patty’s Day, for the obvious reason, but also because I read they have “the best wings.” And I was in the mood for that. The wings were great. I like the $3 Guinness pints. Had a good chat with Irish fella – a regular from Cork, I believe – and took a shot of Tullamore Dew Irish whisky, which is on tap. All around a decent place with a fun crowd.

The bartender was nice at first but not very attentive. Basically blaming me for the drink being too strong saying I should be aware. I ordered chicken with mild buffalo and I was told they weren’t spicy but they tasted like regular buffalo

Fun Irish bar. Environment was friendly and upbeat, server was very friendly. I loved the wings I got, they were cooked perfectly. That said, I wish there were a few more Irish themed menu items! Overall, fun, loud (in a good way), and great for a casual drink.

Zero stars would not be a low enough rating for this place. The most unprofessional waitstaff I’ve ever encountered. They did not know how to operate their POS system correctly, told me my credit card was not working and our dinner bill was unpaid, ended up charging me $90 over my original bill, and when I showed the waitress proof that she was charging money to my account, she simply said to pay another way or she would call the police. I indulged her in her power trip… unsuprisingly the police advised her to just exchange phone numbers with the manager. My wife was brought to tears by how badly your staffed treated and embarrassed us. I only hope that the manager/owner will make this right, and at the very least, STRONGLY reconsider this staff memebers employment and as someone representing your establishment. What a nightmare of a business…

This is a really good bar and grill. Portions are huge. I had the crispy chicken salad. Well worth the money.

The food here is so good! We shared a burger and wings and sat at the bar to watch one of the NBA Finals. I didn’t really notice any Irish fare but it didn’t matter because what we got really hit the spot! And it was all done so well. I think these wings are among my favorites in DSM! Really enjoyed the company of all the staff, too. The bartender Megan did a great job!
