I came to eat here with my family. The service was great. We were greeted within seconds of walking in and seated shortly after. The food was amazing and came out in a reasonable amount time. The flavor was fantastic. We enjoyed the tacos de pollo, mofongo con camarones, chicharrón de pollo con yuca. The music set the atmosphere and it was overall a pleasant and delicious experience. We’ll definitely be back.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at what we consider to be the best Dominican restaurant in the DMV area. The dishes and drinks were exceptionally flavorful, setting a high bar for authentic Dominican cuisine in the area. We were particularly impressed with the amazing customer service, reasonable prices, and the traditional music that enhanced the dining atmosphere. Having visited the Dominican Republic previously, I can attest that the flavors here truly capture the essence of the country and if you’re trying to have some home style meals definitely visit this place. We extend our sincere thanks for the wonderful hospitality and delicious food.

A True Taste of the Dominican Republic at 809 Restaurant & Bar

From the moment I walked into, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and full of life—like stepping into the heart of the Dominican Republic itself. The vibrant décor, the music, and the welcoming staff immediately made me feel at home.

I ordered mangú with pernil (roast pork), and let me tell you—it was nothing short of perfection. The mangú was smooth, flavorful, and seasoned just right, topped with sautéed onions that added the perfect tangy kick. The pernil was fall-off-the-bone tender, with a crisp, caramelized edge that speaks of hours of careful roasting and true Dominican love for food.

Every bite transported me to the island. It’s not just food here—it’s culture on a plate. You can taste the authenticity in every detail, and the passion in the way it’s prepared and served. 809 isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a reminder of home for some, and a delicious cultural discovery for others.

If you’re looking for authentic Dominican cuisine, made with soul and served in a place that feels like family, 809 is the spot. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m bringing friends.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Highly recommend!

This is my second time here and the food is amazing. We had the churasco with the rice and peas and pernil with the rice and beans. Is nice to have a piece of back home in the area. The music playing in the background just reminds me so much of being in the Dominican Republic. This is a must try restaurant!

It’s been a challenge getting good Dominican food since leaving NYC, but this place hits the mark. Everything is cooked to order and you can taste the personal touch in every bite. It’s located where Brotha Mann tacos used to be and I hope the community really supports this business.

Finally! A restaurant with delicious Dominican food. We needed something like this in the area. Everything was exquisite. I really missed a “morir soñando” and a tasty platter. My family and I truly enjoyed it. I highly recommend it!

Authentic Dominican Restaurant in Waldorf!! Finally!!! The Chinola juice was right and the “Mangú con los tres golpes” hit the spot. My Son and his Wife both had Churrasco and it was cooked to perfection. The owner was very engaged and the waitress sweet. Can’t wait to come back with my family and friends!!! BRAVO!!!!
