Surprisingly, the Nepali food is excellent and worth trying in town!
I’ve wanted to try it for a while, and I finally visited. All the food was delicious and the service was also excellent. The outside table was cute and had a heater in the chilly afternoon.
We tried Chicken Momo Steamed, Vegetarian Momo deep-fried, Lamb Biryani ️, Garlic tikka french fries, Butter Chicken curry, Roti, and Mango Lasasie. Everything was good Biryani was too spicy for me.
My favorite was chicken mono and butter chicken curry. I should come back again!

A mix of Indian, Chinese, and Nepali foods. They have both steamed and fried momos and I find the steamed ones are better. They offer two different sauces for their momos, which take 15-20 minutes to come out.

Other than that, they have other well-sauced entrees and you can’t go wrong with many of the different options.

They have a nice outdoor patio on B Street and a good interior too.

An unassuming place along the main stretch in San Mateo with a ton of restaurants, we walked in because Indo Chinese food sounded interesting. The service is minimal but not unfriendly so don’t expect too much in that aspect.

The menu is pretty good with explanations so you don’t need to sit there and Google every single item if you’re as unfamiliar with Nepalese food as I am. I was most excited to try the momos but we ordered a bunch of things to share!

Mixed Bhuteko Bhat: Nepali fried rice with egg, vegetable and chicken. This was so good!!! There was wok hei, that fragrance you get in stir fried items that has had enough heat applied. I was stunned that I had to go to a Nepalese place to get that but it was so good. The chicken wasn’t too dry, and I have no complaints about the frozen vegetables used in this. We polished off the whole plate.
Lamb Choila: this is like lamb skewers that are then stir fried in a sauce, then served with crispy naan crumbs and crunchy soybeans. The lamb was pretty gamey so I wasn’t a huge fan but the use of texture in the dish was very interesting.
Chicken Momos: these were delicious and stuffed full of meat! The chicken filling was very well spiced and seasoned and went great with the two sauces they provided (one was chilli and one was a cumin tasting sauce). The dumplings were also very juicy and came very hot.
Gobi Manchurian: I love this usually, but this had a goopier sauce than I would normally like and the batter was very thick. The flavor of the sauce was pretty good, nicely sour, sweet and a tiny bit spicy. The cauliflower was nice and soft but I wish the batter was crisper.

My favorite items were the bhuteko bhat and momos, I’d return just for those two items. They were doing a brisk takeout business and l can see why!

Although the place has more of a hole-in-the-wall vibe, they serve up some tasty dishes at a very reasonable price, especially for the area. I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and the spinach with cheese dish. I would return.

Paneer Momos (4/5): These momos were a good size and generously filled. While the filling was flavorful, the turmeric taste was slightly overpowering; more paneer would create a better balance.
Gobi Manchurian Chow Bowl (3/5): The Gobi Manchurian itself was quite enjoyable, but the accompanying noodles were somewhat bland and dry, lacking sufficient sauce or seasoning

A momo-centric review. We tried three of their chicken momos – Steamed, Jhol, and Chilli. The momos are delicious and generously filled for the stuffing. Tad bit expensive when compared to Everest Momo.

Outdoor seating is awesome for your four legged friend. Will come back again.

Great place for momos. Also one of the very few places in the bay that opens late. Food was delicious and staff is very sweet

The foods good. The people in there are super kind. And the vibes there are immaculate.

The curry and paneer are classics. But the momos they have are the star. They are so good. The fried rice as well was really good. It had a good mixture of herbs and ingredients.

Overall; I like it!

I’ve gotten takeout here once before and finally got a chance to dine in. The food definitely tastes a lot better fresh. The decor and service both feel more like a mom and pop shop.

We got the aloo gobi, chili chicken, butter paneer curry, chicken biryani and garlic naan.
The garlic naan was one of the best I’ve had in the Bay Area, it was crispy and fluffy.
The chicken biryani was good but I felt like they didn’t cut the chicken properly – I bit into a few really small bone pieces which kinda ruined the experience.
I really enjoyed the butter paneer curry, which was very well flavoured.
Aloo gobi was okay but it felt like the portion was small for the price and they did not put much cauliflower in it.
The chili chicken was good, better than the one at Samichka but nothing to write home about.

Definitely will come back to try some other dishes.

Ordered lamb curry, garlic naan, and mango lassi to go. Was craving “Indian” food but wanted to try this place. Curry had good flavor (3/5 spice level) though was soupy/thin consistancy. Lamb meat was a little tough but good portion for one person. Garlic naan was thick and fluffy, which I like better than thin and crunchy. Mango lassi portion was small for $5 and thinner consistency than I like. Overall good food, but I wouldn’t go back for this meal. I’ll try their momo dumplings next time.
