Tacos El Viejon
Taco Truck in Downtown Modesto

If you’re craving flavorful, freshly made Mexican food, Tacos El Viejon is a must-visit! They’ve got two locations—a restaurant in Ceres, CA and this taco truck located in downtown Modesto.

Everything is made to order, and you can taste the quality in every bite. The meat is always cooked to perfection—a little crispy, packed with flavor, and so satisfying. Their salsa is fresh and has just the right amount of heat, and don’t even get me started on the guacamole—super fresh and they don’t hold back with the portions.

It’s the perfect spot to stop by on a warm summer evening, grab your favorites, and enjoy some seriously good eats.

TACOS EL VIEJON – A True Central Valley Gem!
722 I Street, Modesto California & 1240 E Whitmore Ave. Ste B Ceres California Ceres Location
If you’re searching for not just good tacos, but next-level Mexican food served with love, energy, and a true community spirit — look no further than Tacos El Viejon. With two bustling locations in Modesto and Ceres, this family-owned spot is not just serving meals; they’re delivering experiences.
The People Behind the Flavor:
What makes El Viejon really stand out isn’t just the food (though it’s out of this world) — it’s the owners and the team. From the moment you walk up, you’re greeted with warm smiles, a welcoming vibe, and staff who are genuinely happy to serve. You can feel the pride in everything they do — from the way they take your order to the way they perfectly plate up every taco, burrito, and Mulita. These aren’t just workers — they’re people who care deeply about their community and their craft.
The Food: A Fiesta in Every Bite
Let’s talk food. El Viejon doesn’t play when it comes to flavor. Whether you’re at the Modesto or Ceres spot, everything is made fresh to order. The homemade tortillas? Soft, warm, and full of flavor. The meat? Juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. From the iconic Tacos to the generously filled Burritos, the cheesy goodness of Quesadillas, the bold flavors in their Tortas and Mulitas , to the local favorite — Beto’s Green Grass — every bite hits like a party in your mouth.
And we can’t forget about the salsas — oh man. Whether you like it fiery or mild, they’ve got that perfect mix of spice and flavor. Their salsa game is STRONG.
Community Love
This place is more than just a taco stand — it’s a gathering place. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, they treat you like family. They support the community, uplift others, and go the extra mile every single day. That’s rare — and it’s why they’ve earned such loyal love across Modesto and Ceres.

Show Some Love!
If you’ve ever eaten at Tacos El Viejon, you know it’s the real deal. And if you haven’t yet — what are you waiting for?! Go visit either location, bring your friends and family, and taste the difference that love, pride, and authentic recipes make.

4$ a taco, came home and I’m missing TWO.
The service isn’t terrible but there was miss communication at the end. For the price its not worth it at all. These are their nachos.

I got the loaded potato. It was so delicious, couldn’t finish it. It’s a pretty big dish, brought the rest of it home. Kids got their tacos, husband and oldest daughter God, they’re a big burrito. We all enjoyed it very much.

Drive an hour to this place and it was a waste of gas because the lunch truck was not there. Went inside to the restaurant on the corner to ask where the place was at and they said that the place parks outside and should have been set up during my arrival time, that more than likely they were not going to set up. This was on a Saturday at 6 pm.

The Food was Cold and sincerely the tacos were NOT good.. I had pastor and tripa, the tripa was very hard to chew. The Tortilla and the guacamole are the only things that didn’t disappoint! Waste of time and gas.

Worst service ever! They didn’t have any toppings left when we got there to order with at least 2 hours left of them still open. Don’t order huge!!!! They will wait for your order to be the last one to give out and your food will be cold and oily! The prices for the food is definitely not it. I’d recommend going to Grub Hub instead for the prices!

Their truck in Turlock (Golden State Blvd) is my new favorite food in Turlock. Restaurant or truck. Their asada is fresh and smoky from being barbecued!! I hope everyone tries this truck out so they can expand their business. It’s literally that good. I think all the bad reviews are from other trucks… seriously, try them out. The asada is the best I’ve EVER had. Including from Mexico!

We went to the crowslanding truck. Tacos we’re huge but very salty for my liking. Tripas we’re a big disappointed. They weren’t crispy. They we’re very saugy. Customer service was okay. Carne asada , either had to much seasoning or to much salt. Adobada taco was not good at all.
