I was looking for a vegan friendly restaurant near Rialto Theater and Luna Mexicana Restaurant did not disappoint! My mom had the shrimp enchilada verde plate and I had the vegan gordita with rice and beans on the side. Our waitress Rosaria only spoke Spanish so we got to practice our Spanish and we even helped her with learning a few English words. Since everything was made fresh to order, of course the food was superb. After dinner we spoke with Susan the cook, to compliment her and she encouraged us to come back to try their updated vegan menu in a few weeks. I’m looking forward to many happy returns!!

Amazing Spot For Vegan Food !!! The vegan enchiladas with the green mole was so delicious, that food made my soul feel nourished!!! Also the vegan ceviche is super delicious! I’ve been vegan for 6 years now and I love to help and promote all vegan spots or places that offer vegan options !! It was a lot of food for such a reasonable price! I definitely will go back again. Plus the women in there that greeted me were super friendly and nice hospitality! 5/5 !!!

Toured the old Joliet prison so we were pretty hungry after. Found this place on a whim. Almost no customers so we were a little skeptical. It turned out to be so delicious! We could see them cooking our food through the open kitchen and a lady was making ALL the tortillas by hand to order! The jamiaca and horchata were on point and served in huge mason jars. So delicious and refreshing! The portion sizes were huge and everything came out fresh and hot! Definitely a hidden gem amongst an over saturated Mexican restaurant area. Try it. You won’t be disappointed!

This place was really an amazing find. As a vegan going through unknown towns can be challenging but found this place on HappyCow app and we were so impressed. Vegan spot on menu made ordering super easy. The loaded burrito…SO DELICIOUS!! My boyfriend and I got 2 to go for lunch tomorrow. If we make it up that way again we will definitely be back.
The people, so kind. My boyfriend had auto work done and while he was looking under the hood, several people asked if we needed help, including the chef. Being from out of town that felt good that they were looking out.

The ambiance was straight out of an old cantina with ornately carved wooden chairs and tables and beautiful Mexican artifacts. The atmosphere was very authentic, warm and inviting. I would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates good Mexican food.

We’ve come here a few times and truly this place deserves more business as all their food is always made fresh. The steak/asada tacos were some of the best I’ve had, with handmade fresh tortillas. The al pastor/pork were also very good. Service is always welcoming and the wait isn’t too bad, however whenever we’re here it’s not very busy. They have vegan options which is also a plus. The decor and plates are beautiful. Drinks are also good! Their micheladas and margaritas are delicious.

Susan was very friendly and helpful with recommending vegan dishes for my party. I had the vegan gorditas with poblano peppers and cheese and the other with vegan chorizo and potato. They were so good, especially the handmade tortillas because it had such an authentic flavor. My wife had the vegan enchiladas with chorizo and potato covered with salsa verde and cheese. She loved it!
We have had a hard time finding great vegan food while visiting family in Chicago, so we were so happy to have found this place.
Also, as a Mexican from Texas, this food tasted like food my grandma and my tías would make, and they aren’t even vegan.
Oh, and don’t forget to try the vegan Horchatas! Made with rice milk and oat milk, they were amazing!
I can’t thank them enough because some of us were getting hangry lol. We will have to come back when we are in the area.
