He absolutely kills it! The food is so good best around and I’ve ever had. And such a great value! This chicken plate pictured has the huge helping of chicken, 2 full side portions, 2 slices of bread, a huge chunk of lemon pound cake, and a freaking drink all for just $14!!! amazing value, honest business and great people. I got the pulled pork with beans and slaw. My husband got the beef with potato salad and beans, both were to die for. I didn’t think that I liked brisket but this proved me wrong. It was so moist and tender. My son said that their chicken is amazing as well.

Found this place watching BBQ Pitmasters. I heard it was less than an hour from my house and I got up in the middle of the show and left. When I got there I was not disappointed.
The best brisket I’ve ever had; in fact all the food is simply amazing. I’ve been back a few times and have never been disappointed.

Absolutely hands down the best barbecue. If you haven’t eaten here you’re doing yourself a massive disservice. Everything on the menu is so full of flavor and tasty.

This place is as close to no frills as you can get. The experience is all about the food and they deliver! My brother made sure we went here while I was in town. For people that don’t understand how long it takes to smoke meat, I guess the 1-star reviews make sense when complaining they were out of everything. Character’s restaurant seems to be a passion project for the owner and less about trying to create a food empire, which is perfectly fine by me. I almost couldn’t eat the whole sandwich and the beans were amazing. They had a smoky molasses flavor, which left you wanting more. You have to enjoy each BBQ place as its own and not try to compare it to your idea of what BBQ should be. If you do that, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t use the hours of operation as your guide for coming here. If you’re wanting some great food, get there early!

Outstanding BBQ ribs and pulled white-meat chicken. The sauce was delicious. The slaw and potato salad were homemade and so, so good. The portions were gigantic, and on top of that, you get a gigantic piece of pound cake. This is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall barbecue joint that you don’t want to miss.
