You order drinks and food separately. The bartender takes your drink orders (and holds your card for a tab) while food is ordered on a tablet either at the far end of the bar or on a different tablet in the “dining” room where the booths and pool table are. A card is required to order on the tablet as well so either order food first or bring multiple cards. You could also pay in cash and order food directly from the cooks if you want.
Guinness is an American pint (16oz) and costs $8 all in. Fish and chips was very good and heavily battered. Some people don’t like that much batter but I like it as long as the fish inside is a good size and it was.
Overall, this is an easy walk from my house and I like Irish food and drinks so I will be back often. I’m excited to try their Irish coffee.
Had high hopes when I walked in and a lot of the decor had been kept the same. But for $7 for a bottle of beer, $7 for a mediocre plate of fries, and having to navigate a bunch of kiosk ordering system nonsense, it’s just not worth the hassle.
Looks like the new owner’s goal was to hollow out Ryan’s and make it a safe space where hipsters can pretend they’re at a dive bar. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this is for you.
Tucked in one corner behind the bar they have a grill and a fryer so consider the menu. Being a predictable simpleton, I had a standard burger/fries/Coke and it was jumbo-sized and quite good. There were several other items worth checking out so ask for a menu.
Of course, since this is Reno, my seat at the bar had a gaming machine so I played a few hands of Double Bonus Poker. Started with $20 and after a while cashed out at $22.00.
So I was a winner in more ways than one.
