Received a Crumb Cake as a Christmas gift…Looked delicious but when cut into…there was only 1/4 inch of cake…the Crumb topping was 2 inches thick…there was no cake…I appreciate the gift but my friend spent a lot of money for the cake plus shipping…Will tell my friend don’t waste your money…This bakery had better put some cake in their Crumb Cake or will lose alot of customers…I sure won’t buy this cake…

We were customers for their delicious crumb cake until recently. No more. Purchased one and it was almost raw inside. I called and left a message on their vm and let them know and suggested a refund on my cc as we do not live nearby and I could not get there to exchange it.
Never heard back, so I went in to explain and was met with zero customer service. “We don’t check our vm”, was the first response I received. Then I was asked if I took a photo of it to which I responded, “I would have if someone contacted me and asked me to, happily”. “Well why didn’t you try calling again,” I was asked in a sharp tone. “Why should I call back again?” I responded. “You should be checking your voicemail when you have a business, shouldn’t you? Again, I was told they don’t. Not an excuse or reason. I explained that the cake must have been part of a batch that were all undercooked to which I was told, “no one else called to complain.” “How would you know if you don’t check your vm?” I said.
What kind of customer service is this? Clearly NONE. They were given 2 opportunities to make amends and none were attempted. What would it have taken to apologize and offer up a pastry or cookie in place as I had my son with me, let alone another crumb cake.
I thanked them for their ‘stellar’ customer service and proceeded to leave when one worker shouted out in a nasty tone, “have a nice day”.
REALLY?
As a business owner myself, I will say that WHENEVER a customer might be dissatisfied with something, we go above and beyond to make it right so they’ll continue to return and bring friends. And based on experience, it’s been working beautifully. These ladies running this business need a lesson in customer etiquette and satisfaction. Oh, and make sure you never leave a message on their vm.

This is by far one of the best bakeries I’ve ever visited, the owner is always happy and friendly, when you walk in the fragrance of all the baked goods makes you smile. Everything I’ve tried is so delicious and fairly priced. Happy to find an old school bakery…

The crumb cake is the best ever! Believe me it’s ALL crumb and barley cake! Cheese danish is good as well as the cinnamon bun loaded with icing! It’s all a win for everyone! YUM! Delicious! I’m sure everything else is good too! Go get it!

I got 4 different donuts and they all had a lemon flavor to it. I dont know why my boston creme or my chocolate donut would have lemon flavoring in it.. it was very upsetting honestly and I am not sure if i would trust the other desserts if a non lemon donut tastes like donut

I was really disappointed with Styertowne Bakery’s crumb cake. It was the driest crumb cake I’ve ever had and had almost no enjoyable texture. I wouldn’t recommend it. If you want a true, old-school crumb cake, B&W Bakery does it way better.
