Went here with my boyfriend for a belated valentines dinner and definitely was not disappointed! I got the Shrimp Tempura roll and the Spider roll, and he got a salmon roll and a Philly roll. Everything was delicious, came very quickly, and was a great portion!

I hate leaving a negative review but the experience I had was terrible. To start off, I placed a pickup order online and when I went to pick it (at 6:17 which is when the app told me to pick it up) they told me they just put my order in because the printer broke. I thought okay whatever I’ll just wait in my car. 20 minutes later I get my order. So after 45 minutes of waiting I finally have my two very basic sushi rolls.

I am allergic to avocado and made sure to write on my order TWICE that I wanted no avocado on my California roll. This may be a strange request but that’s why I made sure to write it twice, in all caps.
I get back to my house and realize they did put avocado on my roll despite my efforts. I threw away the California roll (because I can’t eat it) and looked over to the next. $8 down the drain but whatever. As soon as I was about to pick up a piece of the tuna roll, I realize there is a hair in the sushi…
I tried eating a few pieces but was honestly just really disgusted and annoyed. The few pieces I did eat fell apart as soon as I picked them up and were rolled improperly.

2 disgusting rolls for $20 after waiting for 45 minutes = 2 stars. And that is me being generous. Save your money. Go to Publix next door for quicker and better sushi!!!

My family and I have been searching for a sushi restaurant so, decided to give Tokyo Sushi a try —since it’s very close our house and we love supporting our local businesses.

I have to say, they did not disappoint! This local treasure checked off all our boxes.

The restaurant is very clean, friendly and attentive staff, they got our orders correct, the food was amazing!!!! and their portions were more than enough.

Jamie our amazing server and her manager were so nice. It was a pleasure having dinner here with my family.

We definitely recommend this amazing restaurant!

What a delightful gem of a place! We came around 6 and had very attentive service from the owners. We enjoyed the Chicken Bento Box and Sushi Deluxe. So many yummy things to ooh and ahh over we will definitely be back again in the future.

Unfortunately I am sad to say this wasn’t good 🙁 the sushi basically didn’t have flavor or structure. Even the fancier rolls we got were bland and very messy. I didn’t really taste the fish! So disappointed. The edamame was decent. The person who rang me up seemed very nice. But we probably won’t return because it was so pricey for such low quality.

This always feels like you’ve been somewhere special. Tucked up in a strip-mall, the atmosphere and service are perfect for an intimate date, catching up with a friend, or special time with your child. The sushi tastes like sushi should, served at the right temperature with the right kind of sushi rice. The tempura is crisp and delicious. The bento boxes are a bounty of flavors. The staff is kind and gentle, and cares about their customers. This place is a treat!

I said it before, I’ll say it again, best sushi in RVA. Excellent service, very friendly staff.

Literally have been coming here since they opened. Have never had a bad experience once.

Also worth noting that they will take food allergy concerns seriously. I brought up my avocado allergy, and had no problem substituting out a California roll. Wasn’t even charged for it.

Everything is fresh and delicious. Portion sizes are generous for a sushi place.

The only potential “downside” is the price. They’re a little more expensive than some of the other sushi restaurants around town. But it’s worth it. Every penny.

Thank you for making my birthday dinner a special one. Definitely will be returning.

Great standard Japanese spot for lunch. Tasty food – their bento box was better than I expected, but nothing spectacular. My friend got the shrimp hibachi and loved it, she said the vegetables were very fresh. They have a great lunch menu, with even more options on their expanded dinner menu. Their special rolls looked quite good, and I plan to try them on my next visit. The matcha green tea was lovely, not as diluted as some places I’ve gone. My only complaint is that their rice was a little dry and the shumai were a little under-flavored, but otherwise it was a pleasant lunch.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and it was obvious from the brief time I was here that they have quite a number of repeat customers who are fans of the place. Generous amount of seating, with tables that could be pulled together if need be. Family and baby friendly. I brought my 10-month old, and another mother had her young daughter with her.
