Great service but somehow didn’t enjoy the sushi… actually had an odd experience which maybe just my own, most ppl in our party had an off-sushi-night here. Had a difficult time eating this sushi- felt like a chore, not enjoyable. Very sad bc it’s amazing to find great sushi… this just wasn’t the night I guess… we will try again and I’ll update at then if my mind is changed.

We got take out for lunch. The web site does not support placing an order ahead of time so we had to call after they opened. The phone support and reception at pick up were both outstanding. The food was just ok. The Hibachi chicken and shrimp was very dry. The chow mein/lo mein noodles and the sauce on the hibachi tasted the same. I don’t know if this is because the main ingredient is soy sauce and they both had the same one or not.
I had the sashimi lunch. I was surprised that it did not come with a side of rice. But not a big deal. I guess they gave me a salad instead. The fish pieces were large/thick and the fish seemed fine, not incredibly fresh but not bad. One of the ones they chose was seared which I don’t like in sashimi. The ahi had some chewy bites. The white tuna was good. There was a white fish with pink edges that I also did not like. (Chef’s choice)
The adult “kids” got 2 roll combos. My son said the eel and cucumber roll was ok but too much cucumber and not much eel. The tuna roll looked like the same tuna as my chewy sashimi.
It was a pretty good value for the money in terms of quantity. I was not suspicious of the wholesomeness of the food but I was not wowed by the quality.
Sorry no photos!

I’m giving one star because this restaurant does not deserve its 4.6 rating. We waited way too long for our sushi—despite being the first to arrive, we were the last to be served. The service was extremely slow and inattentive.
A special thanks to the chef for the hair in my sushi (I attached a photo) and for overcooked fried rolls. They were so overdone that the salmon inside was completely dry.
I definitely do not recommend this place.

Very good big sushi. Too much cream cheese in some of the rolls but take a little out and enjoy. The layout is nice and hot sake is great. So is the soup. Very nice portions of hibachi and located near the ocean.
Only complaint is during closing the customer service was blah maybe because the server was tired. The good made up for it even though I’m big on customer service. Will definitely return. Thanks

Got chicken and steak dinner.. portions are smaller more pricey and idk why they consider that a portion of steak be 6 tiny slices not the best experience as the last few were good.

The atmosphere was delightful. We came at 7 PM as a party of 5 and were immediately seated. Our waitress was immediately taking our drink order and had already brought us soup. She was very, very helpful and explained the sushi combos to my children. The prices were very reasonable and I recommend everyone try this great little spot.

We dined in tonight. Our party of four enjoyed every bite. The ginger was fresh and delicious. The Philadelphia roll was perfect. Everything was fresh tasting. When we arrived they were welcoming and attentive. We will definitely come back.

Excellent sushi and hot sake. We had the white tuna roll, shrimp tempura roll with avocado, volcano roll and seaweed salad. All were outstanding and the service was perfect. It was the first time my wife and I had been to Sushi 99 and we could not be more happy with the quality of food and service we received. We would highly recommend Sushi 99 to anyone looking for quality handmade sushi.

I’d give 2 stars for the food but that’s not fair because we didn’t have the sushi. Maybe come here for sushi but don’t come here for Japanese food. I’m Japanese and I brought my Okinawan cousin here wanting comfort food. This is the 3rd self-proclaimed Japanese restaurant we’ve tried in the area and so far we haven’t found real Japanese food. This was an Americanized sushi restaurant. They did not have teriyaki, tempura or udon on the menu. Forget nishime, butter fish or soba. Prices were good for lunch, portions were plentiful, but we left half our bland food on our plates.
They specially made a mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura appetizer for us even though tempura isn’t on the menu, because they do make tempura for the sushi. The tempura was tough in some spots (excess batter, and the batter recipe was heavy); the hibachi chicken and noodles were bland; the katsu sauce was salty and dark (it’s supposed to be sweet and tangy); the white mayo sauce “for the tempura” was like Pollo Tropical’s garlic sauce but was made with visible garlic powder and Miracle Whip or a sweet mayonnaise thinned out; and the lunch special soup was clear soup, not miso soup.
The restaurant was clean; our server was efficient and capable; the staff was nice enough to accommodate our tempura request; the bathroom was clean. The background music was current Chinese pop hits. My husband liked the candies in the bowl at the front. Nice koi mural on the wall.

Absolutely amazing sushi. Beautiful artistry!! I was so impressed am delighted upon receiving my sushi. It was such a fun time with my friends- we felt so special. Very hard working employees- so kind and welcoming too. Gave a couple complementary soups and sushi as well. If I lived here, I would visit this place regularly. 10/10
