Too expensive but very fresh maki rolls. The atmosphere is beautiful but I feel like it isn’t very inviting. It’s too Americanized. The service was good. It’s very clean and modernized. It cost $130 for 2 people. We had 3 maki rolls, miso soup, sake, and wakabe seaweed salad.

The food was pretty good but our experience was awful. My husband and I planned a fun date night. We picked Shakou because it looked like a great atmosphere and we love sushi. First we were seated right under a vent blowing very cold air. The hostess was nice enough to let us move. We initially ordered a couple of drinks and appetizer. After we finished the app and sat for awhile our server, Libby, finally came back to check on us. We knew it was getting closer to close so we ordered our main- 2 maki rolls and 2 special rolls. The commentary that followed from our server was neither welcome or necessary. She seemed stunned at the amount we ordered, clearly thinking it was too much food. After putting the food in she came back to our table to tell us it was a lot of food and that she’d needed to tell the kitchen to bring it out as it was ready because it was too much to bring at once. It ended up all coming together anyways and was not too much. She interrupted us at one point, not to check in, but to gawk at how my husband held his chopsticks. She asked him a lot of questions about how and why he held the chopsticks how he did. Finally at the end when bringing our check she said, “Wow, you really housed all that food.” Needless to say we will not be back after that rude experience.

If you like seafood, I highly recommend this place. They have unique recipes and fresh ingredients , each dish has a beautiful presentation , and the taste is unforgettable. The black widow roll with scallops and black rice is delicious. The ocean drive roll is refreshing and light, and the cilantro adds a subtle fragrant taste. The Hamachi Carpaccio has the perfect level of spice. If you like soup, there are many options to choose from. My favorite soup is the Shumai soup, which comes with dumplings. The atmosphere is elegant and inviting, and the staff is attentive and friendly. There is a wide variety of cocktails to choose from. Visit this place , you will never regret it.

Went here for my Anniversary and it did NOT disappoint! The food was Amazing! The Atmosphere was fabulous and service phenomenal!! Brody was our server and if allowed I will always ask to be seated in his area. Just to be clear when we got there it was pretty empty. Within 10mins it was completely booked! But, we would never have known because Brody was so attentive he never skipped a beat. Thank you for making our Anniversary that much more special! ❤️

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Shakou, and it was an exceptional experience. The restaurant is stunningly beautiful and impeccably clean, creating a delightful atmosphere for guests. The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.One of the standout features is their free restroom, which, like the rest of the establishment, is kept in pristine condition.Overall, Shakou provides a wonderful dining experience with excellent service and a beautifully maintained environment. I have always really enjoyed the sushi at Shakou, it’s some of the best I’ve had. Unfortunately, the overall dining experience is overshadowed by one major problem: the music is so loud you can’t hear the person sitting across from you.
My husband and I know two other couples who refuse to return for this exact reason. Sushi, for us, is about savoring the meal, slowing down, and having a good conversation. At shakou, that’s nearly impossible. On multiple visits, my friends, my brother, my husband, and I have all politely asked if the music could be turned down, only to be told, “It’s management’s choice and we will not do it.” If this is truly a company standard, then shame on them they should be listening to their customers.
Most recently, we went for sushi at 5 PM, expecting a relaxed early dinner. Instead, it felt like we were in a nightclub. The volume was so overpowering it made the experience stressful rather than enjoyable.
The sushi is excellent, but with so many other great sushi options available, we’ll be choosing somewhere else in the future, someplace that values both flavor atmosphere

Great restaurant! It’s spacious, with two floors and a big area, plus a bar. The service and food are excellent. While the portions could be a bit bigger, you might need more than one dish to feel completely satisfied!
