I’ve only done To-Go because I work nights. I dont understand the 1 star rating especially since they were getting a viet sandwich at a bfast place lol Their chicken fried steak is THE best! The texture of the steak and flavor is unmatched. Their gravy is flavorful and not the white pasty gravy like others because they add a good amount of sausage . CFS is my typical order at breakfast establishments and this place is better than any breakfast place Ive been to, period. It’s a mom and pop shop but the hole in the walls are the best! Here to support local vs big chains any day.

Warning! deception!: Under new ownership. This place is totally unrelated to the old Salida Country Kitchen. It’s a trick they are pulling on people by retaining the same name… First of all, the place was very messy and the salt and pepper shakers had lots of dirt all over the top of it, the back was full of boxes and it didn’t feel clean. Second, the food was very tasteless and amateur. I got the Vietnamese chicken sandwich and it tasted like it had rotisserie chicken meat in it. It had the flavor of a rotisserie chicken from Foodmax and the chicken was very tough. My wife ordered the ham and cheese omelette. It was pretty much tasteless because although they used a good amount of cheese and ham but it tasted and looked like they just put the ham and eggs into the pan at the same time without browning the ham first. Because they have many things on the menu they are not making a lot of things from scratch. It wouldn’t be so bad if it didn’t have the name of Salida country kitchen which used to be a very delicious restaurant where everything was made expertly. They should change their name. When we came in and we expected the Salida country kitchen and it wasn’t we felt like we were trapped so this restaurant is kind of like a trap. Be careful. If this restaurant was honest they would not use that name and they would not use the same Google reviews and Yelp account because the old owner’s success has nothing to do with what they’re doing now.
The positive is that the owners were very nice and generous however in a creepy uncomfortable sort of way. Definitely never coming back here. The only good thing was the hash browns which tasted real crispy like they deep fried them. By the way, there is no more chicken fried steak challenge.

I can’t give enough praise and accolades for this place. Jackie “the cook” is friendly and on top of his game. The place is loved and looked after as it is a family run diner. If you have the time, get there early and enjoy a great tasting breakfast with a conversation.

I have been wanting to try their breakfast for a while. My first impression as I walked is was I am at a doughnut shop. The only server there greeted me with what sounded like, “Find a seat”. I did not know if she was actually talking to me because she made no eye contact and was talking as she past by real quickly. I usually have great experiences when I eat out in regards to service. This experience wasn’t a good one. I can’t say enough about customer service. And this server has NO people skills! This server alone, will drive customers away.
As far as the food goes, it wasn’t bad. But it wasn’t spectacular either. The menu had masking tape over so many choices. I usually look at Google before I go to a new place and look at all the pictures of food. What I wanted they only had in a much smaller portion.
I always want to be fair with my reviews. I only like to give 5 and 4 star reviews. I take into consideration that we are human and have bad days. I really don’t think this is the case.

Wonderful sevice feel like family when walking in. They had a fresh pot of decaf coffee made for us that is delicious. My fiance and I had the Chicken club with stack fries and I had the Kountry Omlet with hashbrowns and a pancake. Can’t wait to have dinner here later.

First restaurant we’ve gone to since we moved to Salida, the food is delicious, homemade biscuits and gravy are to die for. I love how the owners come out to greet and hold conversations with you, giving at that old town warm feeling.
