I found another great breakfast place on the way in Livingston. Heather gave great service it was very friendly and professional. I ordered the farmers omelette which I highly recommend because it was delicious. I also had a biscuit with gravy. I usually like to order a biscuit with gravy at a restaurant for breakfast because it gives me a really good idea on how to rate a restaurant. And the biscuits and gravy were good. I had black coffee and a large orange juice.
Let’s get down to business. My first impression was older country style. Not to say that’s it’s bad, it was clean. Felt like an old school country diner.
We wanted to order a bit of everything to try. I ordered the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy on the side and the chicken nuggets. My wife ordered a side of coleslaw (because you can’t be a country restaurant if your coleslaw sucks), along with the stuffed chicken (which was just a version of Chicken cordon bleu) with onion rings and lastly a cup of the chicken spicy soup (which was chicken chili).
My food was ok, nothing that’s wow worthy. But if you order anything with gravy on it, you’ll have to get there really early because they run out of gravy by.. say noon. They’re also not willing to make more for any other orders that would come in that day, according to their manager. Even though they were open for another 5-6 hours.
The ‘chefs’ decided they would just toss chicken cordon bleu sauce over my chicken fried steak and call it a day. They tried with the biscuits as well, but our server stopped that travesty before it happened. Thank you for that.
Usually, I like to give the benefit of the doubt to a restaurant, but this one we will just call it….no. won’t be back.
P.S. nuggets were dry!! The ranch was straight out of the hidden valley bottle. How hard is it to make ranch dressing?
