I’m tempted to leave a 1 star review so their team will write me a poem, but that would make me a liar because this was one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life. The service was great, the music was fantastic, the atmosphere was both cozy and fun. And the food?!?! Legendary.

I saw a lot of comments about pricing. I am a frequent “order my meal off the appetizer list to save money” person so I understand not wanting to spend a lot on a meal. However, Carlos 1800 is worth every single penny. We ordered their specialty dish and the carne asada and we’ll never be the same. The portions, the creativity in presentation and composition, and the evident quality of their ingredients all add to the value. They’re not overcharging – they just know their worth.

My wife had the Cochinita Pibil and I had the fish tacos. The meals were the best, very well prepared, plentiful. I don’t eat out much and if I do I want it to be worth it. Would definitely eat here again if ever back in town.

Forget all about those bad reviews, this spot is the real deal. You are in a tourist town, expect to pay tourist prices. Mexican food is internationally recognized cuisine. If you’re okay with paying over 20 per plate for Italian “cuisine”, than you should be okay paying over 20 for great Mexican food which by many measures is much more complex to make. We got the Mole enchiladas as well as the full mole chicken plate and they nailed the Mole, which by no means is easy.

Service very slow and food inedible.

One of our party had a tough time figuring out what she wanted so she ordered after at the rest of us. It was simply a toasted cheese sandwich off the kids menu. The rest of us had all finished our dinner and were getting ready to leave and finally her toasted cheese sandwich showed up. We turned it back. And a waiter left in a huff.

For the most part, the food was not edible. I had the tortilla soup which satisfied me but my wife had enchiladas and she simply couldn’t eat them. My five year-old granddaughter just picked at her pizza and of course my 13 year-old granddaughter never ate.

The restaurant is in a prime location downtown and I think they take advantage of that.

One of the few spots open late in the Winthrop area! We got their nachos, tacos, and burrito. The carne asada was amazing. Cooked perfectly and tasted so tender. I think that’s probably the best thing on their menu.

Had a great meal here with excellent service. They provided spicy salsa without even requesting it when I asked for hot sauce. They gave us a free sample of the Mayan pork and it was so good. Loved it. Also it’s a nice river view.

I recently visited this nice Mexican restaurant and ordered the Taco Salad. It was huge and tasted pretty good—definitely satisfying! The outdoor patio was a great spot to enjoy my meal, offering a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Overall, it was a solid experience, and I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a hearty Mexican dish with a comfortable patio dining option

This place has excellent food. Great service and fast to table. Had the chicken fajitas which was a huge portion. Has upstairs outdoor balcony seating. I’d come back for sure!

Delicious food with several vegetarian and gluten free options. Chips and salsa cost extra which is a bit unusual (especially when you consider the entree prices).

We are from Phoenix, Arizona and the food was better than some of the Mexican we’ve had there. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Salsa did not taste like tomato paste. Was disappointed that chips and salsa were not free, but that’s fine for the added cost. Beef was very well cooked and worth the price. Would recommend Carne Asada play in chimichanga. Was disappointed that a plane shot was $15 but that’s fine and was worth the fun.
