5 stars for everything, of course! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Friendly staff and owners — it feels like family every time we go there.
Hayashi Japanese Restaurant offers fresh, exotic Japanese fish. Their sashimi is beautifully served on ice, and they also have sushi boats. There are lots of bento box options to choose from as well.
They have a big food menu and a great selection of sake menu to choose from — our favorite is Azure cold sake.
Their udon is a must-try!

My wife and I had an amazing meal at Hayashi. Food was better than expected and reasonably priced (which was a pleasant surprise). Service was top notch.
No complaints – we will be going back to try the sushi!!!!

Lunch to go order steak hibachi. Only received a 1/2 cup of rice. $14. Asked for ginger sauce and was told that was for only Chinese food. Had to request chopsticks.

Beyond expectations is what I would use to describe this amazing restaurant. The food has been consistently good from the sushi, noodles and even the bentos. I have been to Japan more than once and it’s hard to replicate it stateside. Hayashi does that well by flying In fish from Japan to our plate in Wake forest! The toro is great it’s my favorite to order, you can really taste the quality. Each broth has that umami flavor including the Agadashi and Miso. This place has something for everyone including non sushi people. The katsu pork is delicious with proper breading and a sauce that makes you want more with each bite. The atmosphere is great including the music! I’m always dancing with joy from my food or from the music playing . The staff is beyond helpful including explaining what certain dishes have and even work with people with allergies. They have fresh wasabi for those adventurous to try new things! I even tried nigiri that was called Suzuki and it’s not a car, but a delightful white fish from Japan. They have great lunch specials with portions and combos that leave you full. The owner takes great pride in his work and is often seen behind the sushi bar or walking the tables ensuring everyone is content with their food. Ps: you can buy the ginger dressing to take home !

We always have an amazing experience at Hayashi! The fish is incredibly fresh and beautifully presented, and the staff are friendly. They even made our daughter a special birthday roll for dessert.

Used to be our go to sushi place, but recently the quality and service have gone way downhill. The past few times we ordered, we arrived at the time our food was supposed to be ready and then had to wait an additional 20-30 minutes. This last time the front staff and manager were very rude about it and don’t seem to care if they lose customers. On top of that the sushi quality is not what it used to be. Would not recommend.

I’ve seriously taken way too long to give Hayashi a review. I’ve been going to this restaurant for the past 15 years. The owners are wonderful people. They have a knack for finding staff who bring a strong game for the restaurant’s vibe – which is a small and cozy place to go unwind and enjoy the company of others, with absolutely incredible food. The sushi is always great – I bring friends who have travelled to Japan and they say the sushi rivals top-tier restaurants they visited there. They are very serious about the quality of the fish and the overall craft of sushi. The kitchen offers some real gems as well.. I look forward to continuing to visit Hayashi for as long as I can.

We’ve been going to Hayashi for several years now. Easily my favorite sushi spot in the triangle! The staff is great, sushi chefs are top notch and the owners are super friendly. 6/5 stars from me, we’ll keep going back as long as they’re open! I recommend the stuffed mushrooms and the kanisu for a starter and their hokkaido scallop nigiri is my fav!

IF YOU HAVE A SHELLFISH ALLERGY PLEASE THINK TWICE ABOUT EATING HERE.
Before placing my order I let the waitress know that I have a shellfish allergy. She acknowledged and proceeded to take my order. I ordered the Steak Bento Box. With a side of sashimi.
I was brought out my food with California roll included. This contains imitation crab. Which if someone has a shellfish allergy, you are still allergic to imitation crab meat. I confronted the waitress and she acted as if since it was imitation crab that it would be fine. I let her know that imitation crab still creates an allergic reaction. She then apologized and compensated me with a side salad….
Which is obviously insufficient.
This lets me know they are not trained to prevent this occurrence. This restaurant is not a safe place for us with shellfish allergy.
Look elsewhere, there are plenty restaurants that will take care of you.
