Wow, what a disappointment! We went to dine in. You do have to stand at the counter and order. We went with our 3 kids. There were no options for sides such as beans or rice, so our little one who likes to eat a plain bean taco did not eat. Next, we did order ranchero beans but there were some hard beans in it. The flavor was decent. A huge disappointment was the queso flameado which came in a small aluminum tin. I immediately sent it back because it was hardened. She mentioned the microwave. It came back on a plate. Older kid likes this usually but did not like it and neither did I. Clearly it was not cooked in the typical cast iron pan. Also the flour tortillas were store bought so that was a big negative. The bistec tacos were plain and not great. The corn tortillas were a steamed and not cooked on comal consistency. The tacos tapatios were ok. I’ve had better from taco trucks. One other huge negative is everything was served on Styrofoam even though it’s a dine-in place. Styrofoam, when heated, releases chemicals that then get into your food. They also used those super cheap plastic forks that break easily. When I asked for a metal fork, the girl said she had to wash some and so I waited for that. Another negative was that we could not get tap water. The 12 oz cans were 2.50 and everything else was more (tea 3.25) and we just weren’t wanting sugared drinks. The (paid for) chips and salsa came in a small square Styrofoam and the salsa was in a small condiment container. The chips were probably the best tasting item. Salsa was not a great chips salsa. We wanted to try something new but I think we will stick to our usual restaurants next time. Wish it had worked out because we live around the block. My guess is that this business survives on takeout from the 2 schools next to it. Our total was about $59 for a plate of Bistec tacos, an order of tacos tapatios, a Queso flameado (only came with one tortilla so we ordered 3 more), a small chips and salsa, and one small serving of beans. 4 drinks made about $14 of that. My general feeling was that we paid $59 and did not receive quality food or service for that money. Please don’t take customers’ money and put very little effort into providing good food and service.

Stumbled on this gem through a Google Maps search while driving through Del Rio. The reviews and location helped us decide on stopping. Food was great and came out quick. Tacos were small, which wasn’t a bad thing. Make sure to order at least six per person. Their quesadilla with meat was my favorite, and the flautas were crispy and tasty. If we ever find our way back to Del Rio, we’re definitely making another stop at Ajillos!

We decided to try this place after hearing a recommendation, but honestly, it felt like a bad prank. You have to order and pay up front, and they ask for a tip before you even get your food — which I regret leaving because there was absolutely no service afterward. The food was served on styrofoam plates, and the cilantro, onions, and limes came in tiny plastic bags even though we were dining in.
We ordered pastor and bistec tacos, and they were just okay — nothing memorable at all. No chips or salsa were offered, which is pretty much standard at any other Mexican restaurant. The lady taking orders never checked on us once, and several of the tables nearby were still dirty.
They’ve supposedly been open since 2006, but honestly, the only reason might be their location right in front of a school. I went out of my way to try this place, and I definitely regret it.

We placed an order for 16 tacos and received bags filled with very little cilantro, onions, red onions and cucumbers. The food was very good but I remember the bags being filled and even being left with extra before.

Undeniably good food at a run down establishment.
Only recommending the tacos, the Pozole and asada fries were very average.

This is an ideal place for take out orders. You order at the counter as you walk in if you want to stay. Didn’t like the fact that the food was all in bags even though I was eating in (thawed veggies) presentation is definitely lacking but makes sense because they don’t serve you. The best part were the chips for me. The tacos seemed to have random ingredients included (would’ve preferred some cabbage or lettuce) it had two types of onions, cilantro, cucumbers?, limes, and some sauce.

Service was not great, it’s about on par with fast food. The food was ok just above fast food. We had the pastor tacos and tapatio tacos, both were ok but nothing to write home about. This place has signs to pick up after yourself if that helps:0( The plating was styrofoam with plastic silverware. I can’t say I would recommend this place to anyone.

I rarely write 5 star reviews and usually tends to be because of one outstanding employee that gave us the best service in a loooong time! Thank you Angela! We hesitated to order but the way we saw you taking care of everything in order despite it being busy we decided to stay and give it a shot! Y’all!! She was running register order after order and had everything ready with the most positive attitude towards customers! We will never hesitate to stop by when we see Angela up there! Amazing food, and outstanding customer service! Thank you Angela at Ajillos!

I am giving this place 5 stars. You want inexpensive, good tacos fast – this is a great place, not fancy. They give you the basic taco – al pastor or beef – and the fixin’s as sides. You build them how you like them. The sides were all very fresh. Service was quick. You buy packs of tacos. I think the smallest number is 4. They are not big. 4 is a good number for 1 person.
