Have been coming here for years. The food is good, but today customer service was bad. Came in today and placed a to go order, thinking I was ordering from there “To Go” menu. The cost was more than expected, I was informed the posted prices were no longer available. Not sure the reason because when I asked I was told “No more..late busy, holiday, saturday.” Nowhere does it state the prices end at a specific time or are only for weekdays. I don’t mind paying more, but you have to be honest about the prices you post.

Absolutely my favorite Chinese restaurant in Alhambra. It reminds me of the Chinese food I used to have when I was a kid in the 70s. Many long time customers come here and many younger customers as well. The service is fast. The food is served quickly and hot. However, they don’t rush you. You can take your time. Enjoy your meal and talk with your family or friends. Because the place is so great there are a lot of people and they are all talking and eating so it can be quite lively. I would highly recommend coming here for traditional old-school Chinese food.

The restaurant looks dated and has odd decor. It looked like it used to be an Irish pub with the poker hanging Tiffany lights and taken over by the current Chinese restaurant. The bathroom is oddly located outside the restaurant. Decor aside, the waitress there (the only waitress working dinner, kudos to her!) was friendly and efficient. She was overwhelmed by the number of table demanding her attention. Lots of regular customers arrived after we got there. We were the first to arrive and food arrived quickly. Everything tasted great. Portions were generous. Sizzling beef plate was my favorite. The price was reasonable given the quality and portion. We will return!

This restaurant had a lot of bad review on their customer service that’s why we never went there. So, a couple of days ago my family decided to try it out for a benefit of doubts. Surprisingly, the service was fast and the staff was helpful and quite nice. She was very busy because she was working herself, so it’s totally understandable if she looked like in a hurry. The restaurant was not so big but it’s pretty nice though. It was not busy during our visit at weekday, but there were a lot of online orders coming to pick up food. Amazingly, their food tastes as great as our other favorite restaurant on Valley Blvd. Their pork belly tastes and smells great and their fried chicken is also tasty. Will come back soon.

The floors and menus were sticky, and a pile of disposable meal boxes, napkins, and chopsticks cluttered a dining table in the corner, creating a messy atmosphere.
There was no welcoming greeting from the receptionist as we entered, and although half the tables were available, we had to wait for a waitress to clean up and set a table for us.
Luckily, the enticing aroma of the food kept us from walking out immediately. We ordered sautéed sticky rice cake with salty pork, crispy chicken, fried cod with pepper, and house tofu.
While the other three dishes were delicious (but a bit too oily), the house tofu tasted slightly spoiled.

First time coming here, ordered take out. I called in to order. They are open for dining!
I ordered the beef & broccoli. About $14. It was good! Nice big portions! Can definitely share with a family. Will come back again to try other items.

I just visited Alhambra CA, near one of my favorite places for great Chinese food. The food is great tasting and the prices are very reasonable. The food is similar to traditional Chinese style food, I grew up eating. You get real food… much better than ahem Panda Express.
I’ve been eating at Shang Hai Yau Fat (you fat) for years, because I’ll get fat eating the great food. I previously eat near the downtown Los Angeles area to get original Chinese food. I haven’t been disappointed. I also stay away from the busy Chinatown District.

They are all good. Place is small but can accomodate at least 70 people inside. Our server is very nice and attentive. We are not rushed.
Compared to Sam Woo or Oak Tree Inn with prices, this place is cheap and it is an authentic shanghai cuisine.
Definitely a very good place to go to save money specially with inflation now.

Best damn food of my life. Beef was perfect. Green beans like I’ve never tasted. Noodles were fantastic. I would come to Pasadena just for the food, they have great food everywhere.
