Nice little Mexican spot on Route 66, with historic and cozy vibes. The chips are fresh, home made and were crunchy. The salsa was amazing—spicy with roasted peppers and garlic. However, the carne asada burrito was a bit bland and could’ve used more flavor. It also didn’t taste too fresh.
The horchata was cool and refreshing and little to no cinnamon. Customer service was friendly and welcoming. Worth a stop, especially if traveling from Las Vegas to LA/SD. Try the Spicy salsa!

This is about the best little Mexican restaurant we have been in and quite some time. Don’t let the outside fool you. Very quaint, clean, and cozy little place. The food is absolutely outstanding, and the service is just as good. The chips are homemade and the best I think I have ever had. There salsa is some of the best we have had, and we go to Mexican restaurants in every town we visit. If you happen to be passing through barstow, definitely give platas Mexican food a try

Breakfast burrito was AMAZING!!! Salsa was so good!! Stopped here on the way to Phoenix, wanted to grab a breakfast burrito on our way and this place has 4+ stars. The store front doesn’t look super inviting but don’t let that fool you, go eat there!!!! Great people, great service! A must place to eat. Husband and I both agree, 5 stars

Platta’s is a Barstow Community Staple! There are 3 locations to choose from. 2 locations on Main Street and 1 location on Ft.Irwin Road. Platta’s is closed on Sunday’s.
Everything on the menu is made with love and is delicious. There really is no dish that I would not recommend.
The location on Ft.Irwin Road is a lot more spacious and good for larger parties.
On a side note you can also purchase Mexican Piñata’s at the Ft. Irwin location as well.
Please stop in if you are traveling through Barstow!

We stopped on our way to Joshua NP.
I got the Chicken tacos and nachos with chicken.
Very reasonably priced for the generous amount of food. Taste was okay too.

Generous but not absurdly large portions. Tacos were yummy and the meat very tender. Super nice staff in this little hole in the wall place off the beaten path. The street parking was a bonus for us in our long RV set up.

Food was not good. Shredded beef tasted like a slim jim, rice was mushy, and beans tasted “off”. And it was $64 for two people to have lunch! Was excited to try because I had heard good things but was highly disappointed
