We are a family-owned business since 1971. We offer many in house made sides, entrees, and desserts. We are a destination dining restaurant. We have a lovely view of the wildlife on the west side of our building. There you can watch the birds and squirrels while you eat. We appreciate all of the continued support from our local and surrounding communities and we are grateful to be able to serve. It is truly our pleasure to be here to serve you! Thank you so much for choosing the Foot of the Mountain Restaurant!

Small older diner right along Route 16 west of Mercersburg. Good food. Large portions. Friendly waitress. Has tables and booths. Customer restrooms. Parking lot.

well! what a pleasant, home town, home made comfortable easy place! sit by the windows so you can look at the birds and squirls: nature TV.

out food was really good. honey dipped chicken, ruben (could have more stuff in it), delicious onion rings, and….corn fritters (with….corn)!

the people behind us got cheese cake (yum!).

Driving back from Pittsburgh, we decided to find a place with some mountain charm and Foot of the Mountain fit the bill and more. Great salads, Roast Beef and gravy, turkey gravy, fries and more. Home made corn fritters were awesome. I had the wings and if you follow me at all you know I try wings EVERYWHERE I go.
These wings on the menu were priced at about $1 a wing which to my Baltimore city wallet was suspect. I mean value like that normally means pre-breaded, pre-cooked wings.
NOT the case here. Plump. Jucy. Crispy. Large. Everything I look for in wings and great price too.
A few additional personal touches. The server was quick to check with the kitchen on our questions and did not just B.S. us on things. But something very rare, the cook came out to see how we liked the wings, which they just recently changed where they get them from. All very personal touch feeling.
We took about an extra 30 minutes out of our way and it was more than worth it. We will be back.

Nice family owned restaurant outside downtown Mercersburg. Recommend sitting by window near the bird houses, nice way to enjoy your meal and view of birds. I had the haddock broiled in butter, fish and sides dishes it came with were served hot and filling. My family and I shared a slice of their strawberry cheesecake which was very good too. Price is reasonable for the amount of food you get. I guess Jimmy Carter stopped by at this restaurant during his presidency so this is a historic restaurant as well.

This place checks all the boxes, right off the road, easy access parking. The staff here is super nice & friendly, it’s literally at the base of the mountain, I’d imagine it’s absolutely gorgeous here during the spring, it’s so pretty in the winter time.
I came for the breakfast and it was awesome, if you like scrapple I highly recommend it.
Everything is reasonably priced here and the quality of the food is awesome

Great home-style food. Excellent service. I had the daily special turkey dinner. The white and dark meat were tender and flavorful exactly like home-made.

Hearty food and friendly service. The building and décor are frozen in time (1960-70’s) but what a nice little place of days gone by. Enjoyed the windows overlooking the woods with all the bird feeders. Enjoyed reading the history of President and Mrs. Carter’s visit. Sausage gravy and biscuit were amazing with fresh sausage and flaky biscuits.

We came here last year on our way to Benezette. We did a Google search for a family restaurant and took a small detour due to the good reviews Foot of the Mountain had received. And we can’t stress enough how good that choice was! This is truly a family restaurant in the traditional sense.

The restaurant itself was lovely and, due to us being there in the early afternoon, we were nearly the only guests. The owner served us herself and we had a friendly conversation with her. The service was quick and very attentive and the food was really delicious. If you go here, be sure to try the Corn Fritters, which are amazing! We sat by the window facing the woods and not only our daughter was happily watching the birds and the squirrels at the feeders outside.

Be sure to come here if you are on your way, and even if it is a small detour, we can promise you it will be worth it.

Family restaurant with humble atmosphere… if you sit near the side windows you can watch the birds and squirrels at the feeders. President and Mrs. Carter celebrated their wedding anniversary here in 1978. Delicious onion rings and the crab cake was outstanding. Service was outstanding and surprisingly fast for how packed it was.
