Ordered from Empire Szechuan in Englishtown, NJ and everything was spot on. The pork lo mein was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the sesame chicken was crispy with just the right amount of sweetness, and the boneless spare ribs were tender and delicious. The shrimp kung pao had a great balance of heat and freshness, and the egg drop & wonton mix soup was comforting and flavorful. Portions were generous, food was fresh, and everything tasted fantastic. Definitely a go-to spot for quality Chinese food!
We both had a combination dinner which comes with either soup or egg roll, pork fried rice, and your choice among several entrees. She had roast pork and Chinese vegetables. She enjoyed her meal, but she didn’t like the fortune in her fortune cookie.
I had an egg roll, pork fried rice and shrimp chow mein. They were excellent. My fortune in the cookie was just fine. The cookie itself was sweet and delicious.
Neither of us ordered the regular entrees, but I saw some regular entrees being served at other tables. Those entrees are big enough for two adults.
Service was friendly and efficient. The decor is very nice. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, and there’s plenty of free parking in the lot out front.
Firstly, the chicken was real, quality chicken – no chewy pieces, and cooked right. Same for the beef. Every bite was better than the last.
Not only will I be back, but it will most likely be weekly. Absolutely fantastic.
Also, nice surprise, not sure if it was because of how much I spent but I paid cash and received a free item (went with the rainbow roll). Sushi was great too.
The beef lo mein was a standout item for me, with well-cooked noodles and tender pieces of beef. The cold sesame noodles were also tasty and well-balanced in flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was cooked perfectly, with a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess.
The spicy salmon roll was a nice addition to my order, with fresh ingredients and a good amount of heat. The crab Rangoons, egg rolls, and pork dumplings were all cooked perfectly and had good flavor.
One unique thing about Empire Szechuan is that they offer both Chinese and Japanese cuisine, which was a pleasant surprise. It allowed me to try a wide range of dishes and experience different flavors.
I also appreciated the excellent service I received during my visit. The staff was friendly, and my food was ready in just 12 minutes after placing the order.
The only dish that was a bit lackluster for me was the hot and sour soup. It was a bit watered down and lacked the robust flavors I was expecting.
Overall, I had a positive experience at Empire Szechuan. The food was fresh, flavorful, and prepared quickly, and the staff was friendly and efficient. If you’re in the area and looking for some good Chinese and Japanese food, this is definitely a place to check out.
The food is consistently delicious and very reasonably priced. They offer all the American Chinese favorites like General Tso’s Chicken, Beef and Broccoli, Lo Mein, and Crab Rangoons, all made fresh and full of flavor. On top of that, they have a full sushi menu, so there’s something for everyone.
Whether you’re craving classic Chinese takeout or a fresh sushi roll, this place never disappoints. Great food, great prices, and a welcoming atmosphere—what more could you ask for? Highly recommend giving it a try!
