ISLAND ? I Would Say More Like A Bank Or Shoreline!! Ive Been Several Times To This Restaurant. However; Its Been A Year Since This Recent Visit. The Spice & Flavors Have Drastically Changed, As Well As The Portions!! I Ordered The Curry Goat Extra Gravy , Rice & Peas And Cabbage. The Cabbage Is Bland ( Better With Gravy) Could Use Some Fried Mixed Peppers, Onions, Carrots. The Curry Goat Is Okay, I Expect Spicy Abundance Within The Flavors Where Jamaican Food Is Concerned!! I Had To Add Hot Sauce To The Meat . I Didnt Have To Years Ago. They Did Include Plaintains. Which I Love. They Have Great Spinach! Make Sure You Get A Side Order $5.00 The Portion Is Larger!! Im Assuming It Determines On Which Cook You Get .To Recieve Better & Seasons And Flavors. However; Its A Must Try. They Also Offer A Plate With Half Curry Goat & Oxtails; For Individuals Such As Myself Who Cant Decide Which One To Choose!! Ok so atmosphere like others have said was dark needing better lighting especially for it having been lunch time it felt gloomy. First time there, was drawn in from how confident and nice the young lady was over the phone regarding vegan options and loved that it was made to order and didn’t involve all the processed meats. However for the price the food was mid. I ordered the curried chickpeas with an additional side of spinach paying $21 and then was told for fountain water after spending that much I would need to pay $.75 for water. I’m just saying there might be a need for better budgeting where customers that have the money to spend can feel like their time there was worth it and they weren’t being penny pinched. In terms of taste, everyone knows ethnic food is all about the seasonings. Unfortunately all I could taste was the butter and slight coconut flavor and not curry at all besides the yellow color. The spinach and cabbage was delish though with great flavors. Thank you but will be trying other places for my visit here to Charlotte

Always love to come into Island Cuisine. I’m always greeted with a friendly smile by GG at the register. When I crave Jamaican food and missing traveling there, the stew peas, oxtails and BBQ never disappoint! And they make fresh black cake!

The stewed chicken from Island Cuisine looks amazing — perfectly plated and full of color. But once you taste it, the flavor just isn’t there. It’s bland and lacks the rich, seasoned taste you’d expect. Beautiful presentation, zero flavor.

The food was good. The Mac n cheese was a little pricey, but was a nice serving. I wish they gave more cabbage as well. I had the brown stew chicken. The Chicken was good, but it needed more filling.
