I really enjoyed eating here. The food was definitely great. I got the 3 combo platter and chose shrimp, scod, and bay scallops and it came with two sides,of which I chose rice and veggies of the day (stewed tomatoes). My boyfriend got the fried clams plate with a side of fries and coleslaw.

When you walk in you have to go to the counter to order from the menu on the wall, then you find your seat out of a selection of tables and booths and wait till they call your number to pick up your food.

Portions were huge. Everything was well seasoned. I tried my boyfriend’s fried clams and they were well cooked and not gritty at all unlike a certain seafood shack nearby.
I really liked the breading for the fried items. It was thin and crunchy.
There is a condiments bar, a salad bar (that you need to put on your order to eat from), they offer beer, wine, and the soft drinks have free refills.
Its a little pricy, $14 and up but it makes sense for a seafood place and with the amount of food they give you.

Decor is an assortment of sailor themed things. The inside is rather dark and brown wood, reminds me of a ship. Its kind of all over the place and I would have liked a little more light/brightness of color in the dining room. I also thought the amount of signs and boards of menu items and information was a bit too much / disorganized and busy. I had a hard time reading the wall menu and didn’t know where to look with the signs all around.

It was pleasantly busy inside! It was a good sign to me and to be honest it makes sense now that I had the food. It was great and I would eat there again.

Oh and attached next door is an ice cream shop owned by the same owners. Didn’t try it but I might next time

The food here was pretty good but we’ve had better. Some of the seafood seemed to have a heavy breading…unnecessarily. The scallops were fine, portions were fine, lighter breading would have made it better. The lobster roll was also ok, but not amazing. The soups were well done. Both the lobster bisque and clam chowder were spot on. Not too thick, good flavor. I had garlic mashed potatoes and carrots. These would equate to good diner good quality…nothing wrong with them. The little place is counter serve, you take it to the table yourself. The woman taking care of us was fun and friendly. This is a fine place to get good seafood where no shortcuts have been taken. They also have a small salad bar available.

This is a great place if you want to have either a family dinner or just to grab a small snack. They are very good when it comes to customer service. You actually can feel that the fish hook restaurant is operated by a family. The quality of fish is not bad compared to some other places in Northampton MA.

Fantastic prices, especially at lunch time. Never had a bad meal here. Salad bar could be a little more robust but the dining room is clean. Order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Try the “Boom Sauce”! I am a huge fan of the broiled sea scallops but everything on the menu is top notch!

The food is consistently good here. The seafood is fresh and i really like the clam chowder. My only complaint is that the offerings on the salad bar keep shrinking. Personally some mushrooms and maybe bacon bits would go a long way. I will go back because they are an institution and the quality is consistent.

My mother, who is an incredibly picky eater LOVES this place. I stop often after work to grab takeout for her. I like the atmosphere, that’s it’s a family-run business and the consistency. It’s a Northampton landmark!

I shaved a star off my rating because:
– I wish they had a better, fresher, more diverse salad bar.
– I’d eat there more often if they had more healthy/ non-fried menu options.
– The dinner sides are limited and dated.

Overall, though, this place is lovely. The staff is friendly, it’s clean, the fish is second to none in this town & I’ve never been disappointed.

Food is fresh and very good. The establishment is clean with ample seating. However, if you would like a soda it’s $3.50 a pop for a smallish size glass. A family of 4 will spend 14 bucks before taking a bite. That is the only thing keeping us away. Shameful.

Webster’s has fresh seafood prepared very well at fair prices. The atmosphere is casual with plenty of seating in several different areas. We had no trouble with eight people for lunch. They offer a lot of variety along with daily specials and a salad bar. A great place !
