Reviews
• ☐ The dining area was clean and well-maintained
• ☒ The bathroom was not clean and needs more frequent checks
• Additional Comments:
The restroom faucet should be upgraded. It currently has an old-style turn handle that is inconvenient and unhygienic. A touchless faucet or single-handle lever would be much better for customers to wash their hands easily and safely.
2. Beverage Service
• ☐ Excellent
• ☒ Needs Improvement
• Comments:
When ordering tea, it was served in a mug without a tray, and the tea bag was already placed inside the water. Customers should be given the option to open and steep their own tea bag for freshness and presentation. A tray with a napkin or spoon would make the service look more professional.
3. Payment Experience
• ☐ Satisfied
• ☒ Needs Improvement
• Comments:
The waiter brought the receipt without being asked, waited by the table for payment, and asked if we wanted change back. It made the situation slightly uncomfortable. It would be better to give customers a moment to review the receipt and decide on their own pace.
4. Overall Experience
• ☐ Excellent
• ☒ Fair
• ☐ Poor
Additional Suggestions:
Improve restroom cleanliness and upgrade fixtures for hygiene.
Serve tea more professionally with a tray and unopened tea bag.
Train staff on polite payment handling to ensure a relaxed customer experience.
On Friday, February 13th, my partner and I chose to celebrate Valentine’s Day early at Karma, which has been one of our favorite places in town. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, so it definitely wasn’t a busy or high-stress situation.
We were seated and greeted by our server, who brought us water. He asked if the bill would be on one check or two before we had even ordered, which I found slightly unusual but didn’t think much of at the time.
When we placed our order, we were asked to choose a spice level from 1–5. My partner ordered first and chose a level 2. I also chose a 2. My partner jokingly questioned whether I was sure, since I usually enjoy more spice. As I started to respond and explain that I just didn’t want to risk it, our server abruptly cut me off and loudly snapped, “DO YOU WANT. ANY. DRINKS???”
The tone and volume were completely uncalled for. We were both stunned. I calmly replied that water was fine.
After that interaction, the server walked away and began speaking with a their coworker. They stepped into a nearby back room, still visible from our table, and the server was visibly upset and making facial expressions toward us that felt clearly negative and directed. The entire situation shifted from uncomfortable to humiliating very quickly.
Not to mention he literally became extremely heated and raised his voice more after leaving our table and didn’t even come back to our table, and had his coworker finish serving for him.
My partner immediately became anxious, worried they had done something wrong. It was painfully clear to me that the reaction seemed tied to us as a couple. Whether or not that assumption is correct, the treatment we received felt hostile and deeply disrespectful.
Rather than escalate the situation, I asked for our food to be boxed to go. I didn’t want to cancel the order and waste the kitchen’s effort, but I also no longer felt comfortable staying. No one should feel embarrassed or unsafe while simply trying to enjoy dinner with someone they love.
I understand that not everyone shares the same beliefs. However, personal views should never interfere with basic professionalism or respectful customer service. Regardless of background, orientation, or personal opinion, customers deserve to be treated with courtesy.
Because of this experience, I won’t be returning. I won’t tolerate being spoken to or treated that way—especially in a place I am supporting with my business.
I truly hope this was an isolated incident, but I felt it was important to share.
Service was welcoming and food came out perfectly timed. Restaurant was clean and welcoming! We’ll be back!
You think you’ve been to the Top of India…
You might even swear by your favorite India House…
And sure, maybe you’ve relaxed under a The Mango Tree or two…
But let’s be honest — the place you’re actually looking for doesn’t have mango trees, doesn’t need directions, and definitely isn’t guessing.
That place is Karma Indian Cuisine and Lounge.
This is where Indian food stops being “good” and starts being correct. The flavors are deep, intentional, and unapologetically authentic. Every dish tastes like it knows exactly what it’s supposed to be — no shortcuts, no confusion, no watered-down anything.
If the other spots are stops along the way, Karma is the destination.
If you’ve eaten everywhere else first, congratulations — that just means you earned your way here.
Turns out… real taste comes down to Karma. ✨
Five stars. No debate.
