Small restaurant on Rampart Street on edge of the French Quarter. French not Cajun, despite the name, which apparently refers to the chef’s grandma, not the southeast Louisiana town. Small but delicious menu-quality over quantity! We had the braised celery hearts (good), salade maison (excellent), bread service (excellent), poisson a la florentine (excellent), and risotto (excellent). Tasty champagne and wines by the glass. Dessert was good, too. Efficient, attentive, professional servers. Definitely recommend and plan to return!

This was our last dinner in New Orleans and what a fantastic way to end our trip. Everything was delicious and the risotto was perfectly made. Allison was so attentive, she really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you!!

Everything was incredible. I don’t even know where to start! Our server Brian was super patient and helpful with me (not familiar with French cuisine)
I don’t like pretzels so wasn’t sure about ordering the bread (the only kind they have). But I am so glad we did! Pictures of that and the Redfish!

We enjoyed the environment and service. One of the staffs was very good at describing (and selling us) the dishes. However, we tried three appetizers and one main course, all of which tasted unreasonably salty (and my taste is typically on the saltier side). As the first time customer there we were not sure whether this is a one-time miss or the dishes are always like this. The presentation was excellent, and I can imagine some of them being very good if not so salty. We did enjoyed the desserts (rice pudding and lemon Madeline) and the pretzel bread service.

Little French jam a bit far from the tourist area but a great french and creole cuisine mix. Huge selection of wines and a limited options of cocktails and menu. The food is excellently prepared and nicely arranged on the plate. It was a bit too noisy sometimes but excellent otherwise.

MaMou is THE best restaurant in New Orleans. Hands down. Nothing beats the Poisson a la Florentine. Better than in Paris. Best selection of French wines in town. And don’t leave without Lemon Madelines. Service is exceptional. I can’t say enough good things about this place!

Mamou is an intimate and chic European restaurant with the perfect ambiance for a special night out. We enjoyed a bit of red wine alongside the beef, which was absolutely delicious. The setting felt elegant yet welcoming, making the whole experience memorable. A true gem in New Orleans!

I’m not sure I have enough superlatives to describe our special evening last night at MaMou. THIS IS A TOP 3 DINING EXPERIENCE I have ever had, which includes restaurants I have visited in Paris, NYC, Chicago, and Florence.

The vibe inside is perfect- surprisingly quiet and easy to have conversations. The service was 10/10- there is a team of people who help with cocktails, wine, food descriptions, etc. Everyone there is incredibly accommodating and they want to help (My FIL has a gluten allergy and the server went through the menu in detail to help him). The cocktails are off the charts good, and the beer selection is well thought out and pairs perfectly with the food. And the food… just unreal. The steak was some of the best I have ever had, and my FIL described the mashed potatoes as the best he has had in his 70 years on this earth! And don’t get me started on the steak tartar.

I cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone reading this review. It is a MUST visit for both locals or tourists alike.

This was a masterclass in modern Creole-French hospitality. From the moment we step into dining room, the service was impeccable…warm, professional, and deeply knowledgeable. I started with the “best steak tartare in the city”. I’ll admit I’m not the biggest fan of steak tartare but this was excellent. It was savory with a nice artistic presentation. Speaking of presentation, I ordered the “must-order” Poisson à la Florentine, the caviar beurre blanc that added a sophisticated, salty pop to every bite. This place is the real deal!

Unbelievably good. The menu was unique and the presentation of each dish was beautiful. The pretzel bread service with smoked butter and the Louisiana heirloom tomato salad is a must. For mains we had the fish Florentine, which was a rolled black drum filet, served with caviar Bier Blanc sauce, on a bed of steamed spinach. FANTASTIC. We also had the ribeye, which was reverse seared and cooked to perfection, served with the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. The wine list was excellent, and Molly, the somm, was super friendly and helpful introducing the wines. We will definitely be back!!!
