Cute little place! Great coffee. A little hard to see as you drive by, but we quickly circled around and found it tucked between a sweet little southern boutique and photography studio. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about their goods! Some of the best coffee I’ve had….ANY WHERE and that includes in Europe! Worth the stop!

NOTE that the owner stated they would be moving in the next 4-6 weeks into a location across the street which looked to be equally as difficult to see driving by but it’s a larger shop. Photos included for future reference!

The tucked away store front just sets the stage for coffee excellence in an intimate atmosphere.

Outstanding little coffee shop! I chose the seasonal peppermint mocha latte and a blueberry scone. The peppermint and mocha flavors were well balanced, enhancing rather than overpowering the coffee. The scone was the best I’ve ever had. Period. I highly recommend this place.

They have good coffee and a nice quaint atmosphere. They have a few sandwiches and some pastries available as well, but I didn’t try any of those today. I love that it’s downtown as well- you feel good about supporting a business in the heart of town. Overall a great experience and I’ll be back.

Great atmosphere. Great coffee from a local Rankin County roaster. The Bean Fruit coffee is so good! The service is amazing too! You don’t feel like just a customer… you feel like family.

As of September 30, 2020, Friends Coffee House has officially closed their doors. It’s with a heavy heart that I mark this place as permanently closed, as I remember adding their listing publicly to Google in excitement and in the hopes that they would make a lasting footprint in the downtown community. And I believe they have, at least to me.

To the staff and management that greeted me time and time again with a smile and an open door, thank you for such a wonderful contribution to Brandon. You always were so kind and loving, always open to conversation and willing to go above and beyond to fulfill an order. I wish you all the absolute best in your future endeavors. And if you do end up opening another shop somewhere in the area, I will certainly be the first in line.

EDIT: June 6, 2020: While the business is under new ownership under the new name “Friends Coffee House”, the coffee and the employees remain outstanding! They’ve since relocated to a wonderful location across the street (right in between Trustmark and Cafe 042). They have parking around back, though it can be easy to miss. Regardless, their new space is great, much more open than their previous location. It also has a spacious roofed outdoor seating/parking arrangement, and they intend to do events like live shows in that space in the near future! I’m personally happy for the success of the business! Long time customer, and continued advocate of their business!

EDIT July 24, 2017: After having tried more options at this location, my rating still stands! Wonderful coffee, and they even added a couple sandwiches for local businesses to get a quick bite to eat. I personally haven’t tried them, as they seem a bit pricey, but it’s all homemade and it looks good.

This coffee shop is still very new (maybe six weeks or so) as of the time of this review. It’s a little hole in the wall and easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, but I decided to stop by and try it. It’s great coffee!

They have your run-of-the-mill methods of specialty coffee (espresso shots, latte, frappe, etc.) as well as a standard drip coffee maker, and are looking into implementing manual brewing methods (Chemex, French Press, etc.) in the near future. I tried their standard brewed coffee without anything added and though it was wonderful! I am all for a cup that stands out black, and this was no exception. I also tried a white chocolate frappe, which was also delicious. Their frappes are blended evenly in comparison to most shops, which in my experience often leave larger chunks of ice in theirs.

They also have what they call “Nitro”, which, to my understanding is similar to cold brew coffee but brewed with nitrogen. The result is a very flavorful and rather strong cup of coffee. Today, they had an Ethiopian brew and a flavored brew (Nutella). The Ethiopian I thought brought the strong, tart taste expected from an Ethiopian bean to life; the Nutella was good, but I personally found it to be a bit too sweet for my liking (your mileage may vary). I do believe they change these flavors, so definitely ask for a more detailed description of this if you’re interested!

Their menu currently is not a static one – they intend to have different roasts and flavors available. Do note, however, that since they are still relatively new, their menu and flavors may not change for the time being, but their current selection is good.

Certainly give this place a try! Though, a recommendation for parking: since they are located directly off of US 80 and the parking directly outside of the shop is very limited, I would drive further east just past the building to park in the lot on the right and walk over. It’s a negligible inconvenience that is worth the extra effort.

I stopped into this coffee shop with my dad. He had an americano, and I had the lavender latte iced. Both were great. They also have ginger lemon kombucha on tap in case you wanted a place to find that in town!
