Ordered a 3 meat plate and only got two. The brisket has absolutely no flavor aside from the taste of the pickled pepper that was on top. The chicken is dry, the toast is only toasted on one side. The “famous” beans are mid & the potato salad taste like they put too much mustard. Don’t even waste your money

I’m only giving it two stars because Podnuh’s has definitely fallen off. I don’t know who the owner/general manager is but it’s definitely being poorly managed and owned to the point that I don’t see how they are still in business. The Sherwood Forest location never opens on time, one day I went after 11:30 thinking they were open, the guy came to the door to tell the other customers waiting that it would be another hour before they open so I left and drove across the river to Couyons. One day I visited and ordered the BBQ sampler which comes with all the meats but the ribs nor the chicken was done, the young man said it would be another hour or so. It’s always one person in there having to man both the customers inside and the drive-thru because the other employee is always late.

This Podnuh’s has been a staple in Baton Rouge for years now. The past few it has been hit or miss, all completely on the manager and pitt boss. Luckily this visit was outstanding.
The meats were great and well smoked and not dried out. The potato salad actually had lumps of potatoes in it rather than being blended in with dressings. The beans were hot and well spiced with chunks of beef.
Even the tea was fresh and flavorful.
A quite refreshing visit, but not always the case. There was a new lady at the cutting board who knew how to cut meats, remove fatty meat not right for serving and actually wanting to know how and what the customer wanted. Why they even had a staff member come out and ask the customers there how their lunch was.
To the owner of Podnuh’s….this visit at this location rivaled your Florida Blvd. Location for the first time in years. Please oh please do not change a thing here now. This visit could not have been better.

Placed an order at drive thru today for son.
Guy said 6 bones 2 sides for 17.98 . Well he got 5 bones. Baked beans ok but pot salad was terrible. No taste ….no season just smoke flavor on ribs. Will not return & would not recommend. Rule of thumb if no cars means poor restaurant…..I thought it was closed.

I’ve had the brisket sandwich plate and got the 1/2 chicken today. With the price of everything going up Podnuh’s still offers good food in generous portions with fast service, at an affordable price. Can’t complain about that.

Ribs were wonderful, sausage a little mushy. Beans and potatoes salad were superb. Cole slaw I could take or leave nothing special. The Mac and cheese looked great. I will have to try it the next time. People serving were very outgoing and friendly.
