My first indication to exit the restaurant was that there was no one in the restaurant, including the restaurant staff that did not eat the food. I have visited this restaurant before in the past and figured I might give it a try again for Friday night. What a mistake!
The food was simply disgusting. The smell emanating from my plate was something I had never encountered before. It was nauseating and off-putting, I immediately lost my appetite. To make matters worse, there was a slimy substance oozing from the side of the sushi. It was absolutely repulsive.
When the host asked me if everything was okay, I couldn’t hold back my disappointment. I told her that the food looked and smelled disgusting. Instead of addressing the issue, she had the audacity to ask me if I had ever eaten sushi before. I took a deep breath, trying to maintain my composure, and replied that the smell alone was enough to make me lose my appetite. Her response was dismissive and unprofessional, implying that I should have tried the food before judging it.
Needless to say, we paid for the food and left immediately. This place is a complete disaster and needs to be shut down. I strongly advise against wasting your time and money here. There are far better sushi restaurants in town that actually value their customers and serve quality food. Unfit for human consumption.

I sat outside had a wonderful time. However, I go back about 3 weeks later and I take five friends and it’s a 360-degree difference. The wait staff was awful, the service, and the sangria.
We had the blue sangria first to try it and it tastes a little bit too strong but it had 3 pieces of fruit and a lot of ice.
I asked for another sangria later because the food was still good and it’s pictured here.
But the red sangria was ordered and brought out and was totally awful! It tastes like a juice out of 7-Eleven. The bartender did try to make up for it by offering us bottom shelf shots.
Try it, maybe your opinion will be different from mine and maybe your service too.
I don’t know if I’ll be back ever return.
Since they have no Sake or Sapporo beer or any Japanese beer available, I ordered a half pitcher of red sangria that was good, perhaps a little sweet (also available in white but blue/green?). I found the Tapas selections a bit limited. Blue/white Potato chips, Sweet potato fries, sake chorizo and 3 shrimp selections. Hmmm…
So I ordered the fried dumplings which were delicious & enjoyably very crispy. And the Sushi Tower, while not exactly a “tower as in multi level presentation but a formed layered presentation” it was delicious. Now I’m craving some sake. Wait…if they have Sake Chorizo, why not Sake behind the bar? Curious is that they have eel sauce as a side sauce but no eel on the menu?
So if I’m craving sushi, I’ll be back to explore cuz there aren’t alot of Sushi places in the Ironbound. But please stock some Sake or Sapporo beer.
The service was ok, there was only one hostess, waitress and bartender–she was the same person. With three tables and one at the bar it was a lot to handle so there was no checking in and we had to request assistance for everything. Not her fault but what kind of annoying.
The three stars is for the food, always wonderful. If they could refresh the look and clean up and organize the staff a bit more it would be back to normal.
I mentioned the flies to the bartender and he suggested that I move tables. You can’t expect all of the tables to be free of flies! Apperently there was “nothing” he could do about it.
After I killed one of them (impossible?) and wiped my hands, I had to ask for a new napkin, which was interpreted as a favour for me. The bartender seemed to think he was being attentive for quickly letting me decontaminate myself after cleaning his bar for him.
It’s a shame that no Japanese beer was available. I was never shown a wine menu, so idk if there was any sake.
